The Front Line a/k/a "Crossfire in El Salvador" is a 1983 documentary directed and produced by Jeff B. Harmon and Chris Wenner.
It shows the civil war in El Salvador from different sides of the front line. Harmon filmed with special units of the Salvadoran Armed Forces and the leader of a Right-wing death squad. Wenner filmed with the guerrillas and refugees.
Both directors filmed the civilians trapped in the middle of the war.
Harmon and Wenner worked together clandestinely in El Salvador, at risk of death if their collaboration had been discovered.
The film's cinematographer, Robert Richardson, went on to film Oliver Stone's Salvador, and later won an Academy Award for JFK.
"The Front Line" won the Grand Award at the Houston International Film Festival. It was a John Gau Production for PBS and Channel 4 (UK). It runs for 78 mins.
