Felix Hwang (born 1975 in San Francisco, California, USA), better known by the name of Friendly Traveler, is a hip hop record producer, DJ, and composer. He is a featured DJ at the Stanford University-based radio station, KZSU.[1]
Friendly Traveler started out in the mid 90's as a hip hop producer. With his colleague Ainzboogie, the tandem of producers was known as Hidden Artifacts: Findas of Lost Beats. In 1996, they started their own record label, Distorted Echo Recordings. During this time, Friendly Traveler collaborated with Bay Area-based emcee, LT, and formed the duo, LT & the Friendly Traveler. LT & the Friendly Traveler released an EP (Equilibrium) in 2000 and a full-length album (Most Likely...) in 2002.
During the recording of Most Likely..., Friendly Traveler began to DJ. Being a self-taught DJ caught the attention of Kevvy Kev, the host of KZSU's hip-hop show, The Drum. Friendly Traveler soon became a resident DJ and is now an integral part of the show.
In 2006, he was commissioned to compose original music for the feature film X's and O's.
