"The Flop" is a type of confidence trick, designed to make extort money from motorists. The con artist in this trick must have some kind of previous skull or bone damage that will show up on an X-Ray scan. An example of this trick can be seen in the first episode of Hustle (TV series).
The Flop has 4 steps:
- The con artist will watch oncoming traffic and step out into the middle of the road when he/she spots an unaware motorist.
- The motorist will hit the con artist and knock him/her down.
- At the hospital, the fracture will appear on the X-Ray machine.
- The insurance agency will pay the con artist's "damages".
Although this trick has a fairly high financial payout, depending on the insurance, it is also highly dangerous and cannot be attempted several times in the same region, due to a potential investigation by the insurance companies.
