[edit] History
All three founding members were 10 years old and already writing their own songs when they started to get their first press in 2003. The band won an award in September 2004 for WAM Song of the Year for their song "Sidewalk Surfer".[1] The lead track from their independent debut EP, Rock and Roll Ain't Evil, was selected for "the coolest rock track in the world today" on the syndicated rock show Little Steven's Underground Garage, and is as of December 2006 still a popular track on his Sirius Satellite Radio channel of the same name. The band started playing at several high profile music festivals in 2005 including the St Kilda Festival, Come Together Music Festival, Big Day Out and Rock-It festivals.[2] March, 2006 was the time they received most of their first press in the United States when they played the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas.[3] To date, The Flairz have received airplay on commercial and community radio across Australia, and have received broadcasting on Triple J.
In late 2006 the band introduced new band member Georgia Wilkinson Derums who currently plays bass guitar for the band.[4]
In 2007, the band released their second EP, Bullseye, which featured Dean Oliver on Bass. Sales and airplay of this record have been well received on Rage, Video Hits, Channel [V] and radio stations around the country.
