The First Eagle is a 1998 Tony Hillerman novel involving eagle poaching, the plague, a missing biologist, and a homicide of a police officer.
It features the characters Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee, "Cowboy" Dashee, Robert Jano, Janet Pete, Louisa Bourbonette, and Catherine Pollard.
