The Final Countdown is the third studio album by the Swedish glam metal band Europe. It was released on May 26, 1986, by Epic Records. The album reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified Triple Platinum by the RIAA. [1]. This album spawned major hits Carrie which reached no.3 on US Top 10, Rock the Night, Cherokee and also the megahit The Final Countdown.

Another song recorded during the sessions, "On Broken Wings", was later used as a B-side on the "Final Countdown" single.

In 2001, Sony released a remastered version of the album with expanded liner notes and three bonus tracks, live takes of "The Final Countdown," "Danger On The Track," and "Carrie," taken from the Final Countdown World Tour home video that was taped in London.

Excluding "The Final Countdown" and "Carrie", the entire album is featured in the 2007 film Hot Rod. Although, "The Final Countdown" was featured in the trailer for the film. It was also featured in an introduction commercial for Mario & Sonic at the Olympics.
