The Earlies are a band formed by Christian Madden and Giles Hatton from Lancashire, and Brandon Carr and John Mark Lapham from the United States. They are notable for blending elements from a wide range of musical genres - The Independent described their music as "a very English kind of folk-psychedelia (think Sergeant Pepper-era Beatles, or The Beta Band) with a smattering of Beach Boys harmonies and the grandiose American spaciousness of, say, Mercury Rev" [2], while The Guardian chose the phrase "country-meets-prog-meets-electronica symphonies" [3].

They are also notable for comprising a very large live line-up, of 11 members , who play an eclectic range of instruments, including flutes, a tuba, a cello and synthesizers alongside the more traditional rock instruments of guitars and drums.
