The Disabilities Trust

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Disabilities Trust is a UK charity, providing care, rehabilitation and support for people with profound physical impairments, acquired brain injury (through its Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust division, BIRT) and learning disabilities, as well as children and adults with autism.[1]

Founded in Sussex in 1979[2], it now operates a national network of services aimed at empowering service users to live more fulfilling, independent lives. Through its modern facilities it currently supports nearly a thousand people with disabilities.

In recent years, The Disabilities Trust has taken on a specialist school for children with autism in Berkshire and a service for adults with learning disabilities in Essex. It has also expanded its residential and community-based services across the UK to meet growing demand for brain injury rehabilitation services.[1]
