The Devildolls Rock n Roll Street Gang
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Devildolls Rock N Roll Street Gang are an American and British punk rock band that evolved out of the ashes of Danny Frye & The Devildolls and was originally the brainchild of late front man Danny Frye and record producer/musician/punk rock personality Bill Chylik aka Billy Nowhere.
In September 2001 Danny Frye & The Devildolls released their debut album Hellbent to epic reviews. Tragically Danny Frye passed away suddenly due to health problems in July 2003 and the band decided to call it a day. In late 2006/early 2007 former members of the band along with Billy Nowhere decided to go back into the studio to begin a new project and work on the upcoming album Anthems of The Lost and Forgotten.
The band is now fronted by Billy Nowhere and sometimes includes former The Yo-Yo's / The Lurkers / Dogs D'Amour and current The Loyalties guitarist Tom Spencer and they have signed a deal with Not On Your Radio records.
The group is also highly involved with Strummerville or otherwise known as The Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music. In mid 2007 the band did a remake of The Clash song "I'm So Bored with the USA" to benefit the Foundation. The single was release in conjunction with the bands label Not On Your Radio which is located in Southsea, UK.
It's been noted that the band shares many similarities to The Clash including their sound and song subject matter. It has been recognized so much so that they've been highly supported by many of the original Clash inner circle members, including author and DJ Kris "Needsy" Needs. This is a great departure from there original sound which infused elements of rockabilly and punk rock.
Currently the band is recording their full length album titled Anthems of The Lost and Forgotten slated for a late winter2007/early spring 2008 release. They've already shot 2 videos for the record one for the single "Radio London"which was shot and directed by the bands guitarist Eddie Tomecko, as well as the song "Do Me No Right" which features The Clash Rude Boy film star Ray Gange, Suicide Girls model Bonnie Suicide, guitarist Tom Spencer, as well as Clash and Sex Pistols insider Mark Helfond. It was filmed by director Mark Allen in and around London, UK mostly on location in Camdentown, and Camden Market which was also considered the stomping grounds of The Clash as well as home to concert venues Dingwalls, Electric Circus and The Roundhouse, as well as former Clash, and Subway Sect practice spot Rehearsal Rehearsals which now houses a clothing store.
In early 2008 the band has taken a short hiatus from recording their full length record so that Bill Chylik aka Billy Nowhere could return to playing ice hockey in the Hockey North America league which is his other passion.
