The Desire of Ages is a book about the life of Jesus Christ authored by Seventh-day Adventist pioneer and prophetess, Ellen G. White. It is part of her five volume Conflict of the Ages series.

Desmond Ford, a self-described bibliophile (lover of books) has called it the most "beautiful" book he has ever read.[1]

Jerry D. Thomas has authored a contemporary adaptation named Messiah (author's page; publisher's page).

[edit] Dependence on sources

After a ten year study of White's book Desire of Ages, Adventist scholar Fred Veltman found that for the chapters he studied, there was content which derived from other sources without citation.[2] The nature of the literary dependence must however be taken in the context of what was accepted at the time. It has also been argued that the sources she borrowed from were known to her readers, eliminating the likelihood of an intention to deceive.[3][4]
