The Definition of X: The Pick of the Litter is a greatest hits album from the multi-platinum selling rapper and actor, DMX (Earl Simmons), released on June 12, 2007 in the United States.
It was originally to be named The Dog. It was released by Def Jam Records, not Sony. Since the album was released by Def Jam it has tracks spanning his days on the label, from It's Dark and Hell Is Hot to Grand Champ.
The Definition of X contains hits like "Where The Hood At", "X Gon Give It to Ya", and "Party Up" it was reported that the song "Back like that" would be on the album but later turned out false. On the back cover of this album it says that track number one is called "Prayer III", when it's actually "Prayer II" from "Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood".
The album debuted at number 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 35,000 copies in its first week.[1] As of July 11, 2007, the album has sold 65,826 copies in the US.[2]
Although the album has both an explicit version and an edited version, on the explicit version on the track "Where The Hood At" some lines are still edited due to some explicit content stated by DMX towards homosexuals.
