The Courteeners are an English band formed in Manchester, England in 2006 by Liam Fray (guitar/vocals), Michael Campbell (drums/backing vocals), Daniel Conan Moores (Guitar), and Mark Cuppello (bass). All four band members hail from the Alkrington area of Middleton, Greater Manchester, and have known each other since they were ten years old[1].
The band's debut single, "Cavorting" was released on August 6th 2007 by Loog Records[2]. The single sold out immediately, with all available copies pre-ordered. A second single, "Acrylic" was released on October 22nd 2007 reaching number 44 in the UK Chart, the video also received considerable playtime on MTV2.[citation needed] The next single to be released was the album's lead single "Not Nineteen Forever". It was released on March 31st and reached number 19 in the first week.[citation needed] The week after the single, their debut album St. Jude was released and in the first week reached an incredible number 3 in the charts and in mid week was believed to have reached number 1 for some time. The next single to be realesed is to be No You Didn't No You Don't which to the opinion of many critics is the best song on the album and will have a good chance of reaching a high point on the charts.
