The Counter

The Counter is a fast casual restaurant chain featuring gourmet custom-topped burgers. Diners receive a clipboard to "Build Your Own Burger" with such toppings as Gruyère, Dried Cranberries and Ginger Soy Glaze. There are over 312,120 possible topping combinations.[1]

The Counter was founded in Santa Monica, California, United States in 2003 by Jeff Weinstein.[2]

The Counter was launched into the public eye when Gayle King mentioned it on The Oprah Winfrey Show on February 28, 2006,[3][4] It has also been listed as number 15 on Alan Richman's The 20 Hamburgers You Must Eat Before You Die in GQ Magazine.[5]

According to The Counter's website there are six operating restaurants with over 25 more planned for 2008.[1]
