[edit] Overview
"The Conversation Is..." was originally planned to be the second proper single from Puzzle, but was dropped in favour of "Living is a Problem Because Everything Dies". It was due to include the well-known B-side, "Asexual Meat Kitchen", which was later included as a B-side to "Folding Stars".
Simon Neil has commented on the song, saying:
“ | This is the poppiest song I've ever written. The guitars are in a really bizarre tuning, which was fun to work with. The lyrics are about doing whatever you can to make yourself feel better and then worrying if you've done the right thing.[1] | ” |
[edit] Musical composition
The "bizarre" tuning that is used in the song is (CFDGCF),[2], a tuning which is also used for the "Saturday Superhouse" B-sides, "Scared of Lots of Everything",[2] and "I'm Behind You".[2]
