[edit] History

This five-piece from Orange County, formed by Pauling, Fyfe, and Veta right out of high school, delivered some of the music that Orange County is known for, but added their own natural swagger and energy to it. In the search for a singer they found Taylor Holland Armstrong. They had heard some of his singing but asked him to tag along for a jam session later that day. After hearing Armstrong sing they immediately accepted him into the band. They also gained Jake "Snake" Ortiz as their bass player. Their 2005 self-titled EP featured the screams and melodies that Orange County has slowly become famous for. After the EP was released and The Confession started touring problems with Ortiz and his alleged lack of work on writing music forced the band to kick him out. Pauling volunteered to play bass, but the band was in desperate need of a guitar player. Pauling was friends with Justin Norman, a virtuoso at lead guitar, and after hearing him play they took him with them on Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos, both in 2006. At the time Norman was playing rhythm guitar until he learned most of the lead guitar parts formally played by Fyfe, then he started playing lead guitar. With their newest release, Requiem, the band has blazed through a path set before them by the likes of Avenged Sevenfold with new licks and catchy riffs and even a tribute to their friend who had passed away in a car accident while the writing for the album was underway.

After the band was formed in 2005, they were immediately thrust into touring after their initial signing, joining the Taste of Chaos Tour as well as Warped Tour. They had a stint with Avenged Sevenfold in 2006, and in early 2007 toured with Bullet For My Valentine and Escape the Fate. In fall 2007 , they were the supporting act for Megadeth's tour (along with In This Moment), and they toured with Avenged Sevenfold, Operator, and Black Tide in late 2007.

On January 15, 2008, The Confession posted a blog on their Myspace page, stating that they would be breaking up. They said that it was a group decision, not based solely on one person, and have not ruled out each individual doing their own music projects, or possibly a small group of the former members collaborating on a project.
