[edit] Plot
The plot starts off with Flavia Gemina, the protagonist of the book, arguing with her tutor, a Greek called Aristo. Flavia insists that she is a detective, but Aristo says there is no such thing. Flavia then has to show a calculation from her homework but admits that she did not do the homework. She is given the punishment, but says that detectives should not have to do punishments. Aristo says that if Flavia can solve the mystery of who's been robbing Pistor the Baker's rolls, then they won't do maths for a month, just read greek myths. But if Flavia fails, she can never mention the word "detective" again.
