[edit] Plot summary
Frank and Joe go to the Pocono Mountains to investigate the mystery of a legendary witch who stalks Black Hollow seeking vengeance. It has allegedly returned after a hundred years of absence. The boys, along with Chet Morton, embark on the mission after an invitation from a long time friend Captain Maguire. They discover upon their arrival that the captain is missing. They immediately attempt to locate him, to no avail. After some investigation, they discover a mysterious man living in a well camouflaged cabin in the woods named Walter Donner. Walter Donner's family owns Black Hollow.
[edit] Other information
Many Hardy Boys enthusiasts regard this as one of the best of the later novels from the Original Series.
This book was also adapted in 1977 as the episode "The Mystery of Witches Hollow" for the 1977 Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries TV series.
