The Hardy brothers and Chet head to Hong Kong to investigate a missing chess trophy, a serpent pattern on a vase and hot-air balloon, and end up smashing an international crime ring.

Frank Hardy-A hard-hitting detective and son of Fenton Hardy, a very famous detective.

Joe Hardy-A hard-hitting detective and son of Fenton Hardy, a very famous detective.

Tony Prito-A friend of the Hardy boys. He helps them get out of jail after they were arrested because of their muffler broke down.

Fenton Hardy-Father of the Hardy Boys. They inherited his intellect and knack for solving cases.

Aunt Gertrude-Sister of Fenton Hardy. She has a knack for solving cases just like them, but hides it.

Mrs. Hardy-Mother of the Hardy boys. She is the only one in the family who fails to solve a case and is mostly just a normal lady.

Mr. Krassner-A very scared man and Chet's hot-air balloon coach. He is frightened of the design of the balloon with the serpent on it and calls the Hardy boys for help.

Mr. Sydner-A man who Frank visits to investigate the Jewels Association. He loves cats.

Mrs. Sydner-A woman who helps Frank investigate, but sadly he fails. She has a cat named Princess.

Conrad Greene-A man who rarely speaks. He has a son who is a brat.
