[edit] Major characters

Massie Block: Massie Block is the alpha (leading) member of her group of friends (known collectively as the "Pretty Committee.") This clique is at the head of the food chain at their presigious private school. She is very spoiled (her parents are millionaires) and is usually very snobbish, but she has a vulnerable side that shows up when she is under pressure. Massie is known for her wardrobe (designer labels only), her quick wit, and her desire to shine above everyone.

Alicia Rivera: Alicia Rivera is Massie's absolute best friend, which gives her "beta" (second-in-command) status in the Pretty Committee. Alicia's family is even more wealthy that Massie's, but her personality doesn't quite shine like Massie's does. Alicia is also a bit kinder in nature than Massie, but tends to be a gossip. She can be way nicer than Massie. Alicia is also known for her wardrobe (heavily influenced by Ralph Lauren), and for her exotic beauty (her mother is an internationally-known Spanish model).

Dylan Marvil: Dylan Marvil is the Pretty Committee's source to the showbiz world, for her mother is famous talk show host Merri-Lee Marvil. Dylan is bubbly and talkative. Her trademarks are her fiery red hair, her brightly colored style, and her obsession with her weight. She is always trying new ways to loose weight, but her love of eating always gets her.

Kristen Gregory: Kristen Gregory is an all-star soccer player at school. However, she is by no means a tomboy. She is a fan of designer clothes, but she cannot afford them (her father, a former rich art dealer, lost his money prior to the series' inception.) Kristen is highly intelligent and beautiful with her very long hair. Her trademarks are playing word games, purple, being athletic and avoiding being caught by her parents.

Claire Lyons: Claire Lyons moved to Westchester County from Orlando, Florida. She is very different from the other girls because her parents have never been rich and privileged. In fact, Claire's family lives in the Block family's guest house. Claire has a hard time adjusting to the rest of the girls. She is known for her individualism, her non-designer style, and her tenacity.

[edit] Setting

Though the characters in the book go to many different places, most of the action in the stories take place in Westchester, New York. The girls go to school at Octavian Country Day School (OCD), a private all-girls school. Other areas in Westchester where action happens include Briarwood Academy (OCD's brother school), at the mall, and at various characters' houses.

[edit] Plot summary

Massie Block believes her life is perfect until her father's college friend (Jay Lyons) moves into their guest house with his family (wife, Judi, son, Todd, and daughter, Claire). Her father, William Block, allows them to live there while they are searching for a new home. The Lyons move all the way from Orlando, Florida, to Westchester, New York. Because they arrive on the same day as Massie's spa trip with her friends (Labor Day), Massie's mother makes her stay home to meet and greet them. (Massie is upset and lies to her friends that she has the flu, which is why she can't go.)When Claire and Massie meet, Massie is consistently rude to her, despite Claire's failing attempts to become friends with Massie.

The next day is the first day of seventh grade for Claire, Massie, and Massie's friends. Massie always drives her friends to school with them, and Claire is dumped in the backseat. While she is in the back, Claire endures first being ignored, then being made fun of by Massie and her friends.

The school day doesn't get much better when Alicia intentionally dumps red paint on Claire's pants during art class. The others (Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen) are mean to her because Massie doesn't like her, so they all treat her cruelly. One day Claire gets so fed up with them that she sneaks into Massie's room every day when she's walking her dog Bean and pretends to be Massie on instant messenger. This way she convinces Alicia that Massie thinks Claire is cool, Dylan that Massie thinks she (Dylan) is too fat, and gets Kristen to confess that she's poor after saying that Massie really hangs out with LBR (Loser Beyond Repair) Layne Abeley because she thinks her older brother Chris Abeley is hot. Later Massie uncovers the truth and gets Claire to confess to some embarrassing things she said about the girls in a five-way phone-call with Dylan speaking.

[edit] Massie Block

The rich, sassy, fashionable, and most popular seventh grade alpha at Octavian Country Day. She has brunette shoulder-length hair. She is, at her worst, egocentric, self-absorbed and arrogant. Massie can be a Mean Girl for no reason. She shows this in the first book when she dumps food all over Claire. She has many different terms for things, such as LBR for "Loser Beyond Repair", GLU for "Girls Like Us," or TPC for "The Pretty Committee". Although she hides it quite well, Massie Block longs to be loved and adored by everyone else. She has lenient parents that hardly ever punish her for anything. Her black pug, Bean, and her white horse, Brownie are her sole confidence in her insecure side. Massie has no friends that she feels comfortable enough to share deep feelings with, which results in her having to console to her dog or horse. Though sometimes Massie's close friend, Claire, is another option. Massie tends to be nervous around boys. Massie shared a mutual affection with the Briarwood soccer star, Derrick Harrington, or Derrington, but never uses the term "boyfriend". Massie is of quick wit. She also has multiple punch lines that include strange questions and an answer that makes more sense, such as "Do you work at a grocery store? Then why are you checking me out?", "Did I invite you to my barbecue? Then why are you all up in my grill?", and "Did I ask you to take my temperature? Then why are you all up in my butt?" She is very fashionable and wears top designer clothing. Her favorite perfume is Chanel No. 19. Her family has a driver, named Isaac, who takes her to where ever she needs to be. Massie is the most popular girl in her school and hates her dad's best friend from college daughter, Claire. Later on in the series Claire becomes part of TPC and they are friends.

She will be played by Elizabeth Mclaughlin in the upcoming film of the same name, which is currently in post-production.

[edit] Background

Massie is an only child, and lives in an estate with a swimming pool, multiple cabanas, a tennis court, a stone guest house (in which Claire and her family reside, later redone in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers), a spa, a gym, and more. She lives in Westchester, New York and has a pug named Bean and a horse, Brownie, which Massie rides at the exclusive stable Galwaugh Farms. She is also the leader of a clique called the "Pretty Committee", a group consisting of herself and her friends.

Her parents are William and Kendra Block. William is a very successful businessman who will let Massie buy whatever clothes she wants. They rarely punish Massie. In Invasion of the Boy Snatchers for example, her mother, Kendra, accuses Claire for Massie's wrongdoing.

Massie's old charm bracelet contained a tiara, pug, lion, bell, microphone, stars, a horse, and the Eiffel Tower. Her new charm bracelet is made up of an A charm, a D charm, a C charm, a K charm, an M charm and a heart saying "The Pretty Committee."

[edit] Appearance

Massie gets hair extensions in Dial L For Loser. She also has a razor cut and bangs in Sealed with a Diss, though she got them in "It's Not Easy Being Mean", because It's Not Easy ends a couple minutes before Sealed with a Diss starts. In Bratfest at Tiffany's, she has long hair with a purple streak which she did not get by Jakkob. The reason for this is unknown until "Massie" in the summer collection gets an purple streak witch allows her to get anything exclusively from a makeup guru.Bratfest, she decides to tell anyone who asks that it was a unique 'do from Europe that will soon be an "international trend". In the Summer collection of the Clique, we soon find out that the purple streak resembles the same streak that the founder of Be Pretty Cosmetics has. Massie is always stylish and has a huge walk-in closet filled with designer clothing, bags and shoes. Her clothing style is the most glamorous out of The Pretty Committee girls, and she doesn't wear anything unless it is designer. Massie has long dark brown hair with amber eyes. She is the queen bee and she couldn't be more happier, until Claire comes of course. She is always mean to her and her friends are mean to her too because Massie doesn't like her and is mean to her also. Read the Massie series for more info, when it comes out.

[edit] Love life

In the first novel, Massie meets Chris Abeley, a fifteen-year-old who goes to Briarwood Academy, while trail-riding at Galwaugh Farms. She crushes on him, while thinking he likes her back. It is revealed towards the end of the novel that Chris already has a girlfriend. Fawn is a "disgustingly beautiful" ninth-grade girl. Massie promptly forgets about ever liking him, and, to avoid embarrassment, tells her friends he grossed her own while telling a joke and sending a booger flying. She then decides not to act on a crush until she knows the guy likes her back for sure.

In Best Friends for Never, she has a crush on Cam Fisher, an A-list Briarwood soccer player, but eventually decides to let Claire have him because she sees he doesn't like her back.

In Revenge of the Wannabes, Massie develops a crush on Derrick Herrington (otherwise known as Derrington) and it turns out he likes her too. But in Boy Snatchers, Alicia's slutty cousin Nina Callas puts a phony "Spanish soccer spell" on Derrington, making him stay away from Massie so they can win a big soccer game. But in the end, he comes back to Massie after recognizing Nina as a fraud by finding stolen items from girls at OCD in Josh's locker. Massie gives Derrington her rhinestone "M" pin after the losing soccer game, and he then wears it on his shorts, assuring Massie of their love.

In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Massie lies about her love life to the members of Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing (MUCK), trying to prove that she has more experience in relationships and kissing than Nina Callas. But when Derrington finds out that she has all this experience, thinking she cheated on him with another guy because Massie and Derrington never kissed, he throws the "M" pin that Massie had given him down in the dirt. To get her boyfriend back and to prove to the MUCK girls she had experience, Massie planned to kiss Derrington in front of the girls with Claire's help. The plan works out perfectly and Massie tackles Derrington to the ground, sharing their "first" kiss.

In It's Not Easy Being Mean, Massie is desperately looking for the key to secure her future 8th grade popularity, and The Pretty Committee and her get clues from the poem Skye Hamilton shared in her DVDs that were handed to 4 other "cliques", even with less popularity then Massie. Massie looks in Derrington's room, since he kissed Skye Hamilton, mentioned in the poem. But when she looks in his room, she discovers Derrington is a total slob and she then wants nothing to do with him. Later in the book, Derrington is trying to show Massie pictures of something but Massie keeps ignoring him. Eventually, when she looks at the pictures, Massie discovers that Derrington cleaned his room for her, and they are back together again. P.S., the finders of the key is a total LBR, and the newest Person in TPC.

In Sealed with a Diss, Massie and the rest of Pretty Committee spy on the boys on a tv in the secret room they "won", where the secret classes of the boys is shown. Massie finds out Derrington has an "issue" with Massie, so she becomes overly stressed about this, which ends in disaster for Kristen (Massie's friend and one of the Pretty Committee members). At the end, he tells Massie that he thinks she's immature. He sees Massie at a party of Skye's with Chris Abeley, when she was actually trying to set Chris up with Skye in a deal. But Chris ends up falling for Massie. Derrington breaks up with Massie and the Pretty Committee decides to never date boys thereafter (this "boyfast" starts in the beginning of "Bratfest"). Little do the know how hard that will be, because the Briarwood Academy boys will spend their next year at OCD after a water main burst that ruined the school, because Layne and the Pretty Committee accidentally burst open a water pipe when trying to fix something for the 'room'. Massie will do anything to keep her Queen Bee status. Massie is mean to others when she feels insecure and she dumps Derrington for Layne's older brother, Chris, in the 8th book but when Derrington is flirting with other girls, Massie becomes slightly jealous.

In Bratfest at Tiffany's, Massie declares a "boyfast", meaning no member of the New Pretty Committee shall flirt or crush on a boy. Especially not the soccer boys who did them wrong in the previous book. Unfortunately, Massie finds it hard to stick to her own law when her path crosses with the former LBR, Dempsey Soloman, a non-soccer playing H(awt) A(lpha) R(ich),and T(oned) with an obvious crush on her. In the end of the book, the boyfast finishes, but whether Massie will go after Dempsey remains unknown.

It is rumored that in the next book, P.S. I Loathe You, she will play matchmaker to some of her friends, and a few LBRs, notably a drama freak named Kyla, who she tries gets together with long-time crush, Robert. She grows overconfident after successfully setting up Ashleigh with Mac, and Lauren with Lauro. She has a harder time with Kyla and Robert. Robert is noted for being very attention-crazed, which only attracts Kyla to him more. Massie at first fails, but then takes the credit when Claire makes Robert realize how much he likes Kyla. After failing to set up Dylan, Massie gives up on matchmaking for the time being.

[edit] Alicia Rivera

Alicia is the Spanish beta of the Pretty Committee. She has a huge chest, highly envied black waves of hair, and a thin figure. People tend to compare her to Penelope Cruz, but with a better nose. Alicia is said to be a tad richer than Massie. She loves to report gossip, shop, and flirt with boys. Boys from Briarwood think she is the prettiest girl at OCD, which annoys Massie. In Revenge of the Wannabes, Alicia tries to start her own clique with a girl named Olivia Ryan, but finds she does not have the talents to be a worshipped leader like Massie. Alicia's favorite designer is Ralph Lauren, often wearing his products. In Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, she announces that her crush is Josh Hotz, whose looks are compared to hers. Alicia has cousins in Spain and one who comes to OCD for a while, Nina, who Massie is intimidated by. Massie somehow finds out that Alicia's dad is not actually Spanish, and his real last name is Rivers and not Rivera. Massie uses this info to put Alicia back in her place. Alicia is also a very good dancer. Alicia Rivera is a fictional character in The Clique series of novels by Lisi Harrison. Alicia will be portrayed by Samantha Boscarino in the upcoming Clique film, which is currently in production.

Alicia Rivera is a member of the The Pretty Committee (aka The Clique), a group of the most popular, rich and spoiled girls at Octavian Country Day, a private school in Westchester, NY. She is the beta, or second in command in the group, after Massie Block. Despite being number two, Alicia is a leader, and loves to come out on top. In Revenge of the Wannabes, Massie cuts Alicia out of the Clique because of this. However, in the end, Alicia ends up back in. The same happens in the ninth book (the newest), because of the Clique's boyfast, which she dishonored. She has Spanish origins, but Massie accuses her dad, Antonio "Len" Rivera, of really being from Brooklyn. Massie also claims his real name is Rivers, but he took on the name Rivera so Alicia's grandparents would give her dad the blessing for her parent's marriage. Alicia doesn't know enough Spanish to converse with her relatives in Spain; Claire has to translate for her in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers.

Alicia is very wealthy, like most of the other Clique girls. She also has Spanish cousins, including Celia and Nina Callas. Nina visits Alicia in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. Alicia is said to be more beautiful than Massie Block. Her best friends are Massie Block, Dylan Marvil, Kristen Gregory, and Claire Lyons, the other main characters in The Clique Series. There has been a lot of confusion as to how Alicia's name is pronounced. It is pronounced (A-lee-sha), and her friends call her Leesh.

[edit] Looks, personality & reputation

She is known as the most beautiful girl at OCD and also reads announcements over the P.A. system. Boys at Briarwood Academy (OCD's brother school) frequently yell, "You're hot!" when she approaches any stage, or when her name is called by a teacher. She is described as a sultry beauty with glossy black hair, a deep Spanish tan, big innocent brown eyes, and has large (C-cup) boobs, which she is very self conscious about, but boys adore. In "Revenge of the Wannabes", she is accused of having fake boobs. She is once described as a "hotter version of Penélope Cruz with a better nose." She is exotic and somewhat foreign looking because of her Spanish roots. The Briarwood boys call her and her friend Olivia "The Twenty" because they are both perfect tens. Her fashion sense is a blend of classic, girly, preppy, and trendy. Alicia loves anything Ralph Lauren.

Alicia's personality is a mix. She loves to gossip (usually scoring the most gossip points) but is also able to keep a secret. Her sweet personality around adults make her seems innocent, but around boys she can be a flirt (even though she dresses conservatively). Alicia can be clever and cruel, but sometimes she wants to break free of her beta position. In the first four books it seems she would be a decent alpha, but as the books continue, she acts more like a beta. It seems as if she's content, but someday she wants to show the world who she truly is. She is shown wanting to be a reporter or a model but knows a lot about law because her father is a lawyer. Alicia has a good reputation around OCD and Westchester.

In the third book, Revenge of the Wannabes, Alicia tries to start her own clique with Olivia Ryan as her beta. She also recruits Strawberry and Kori as Kristen and Dylan replacements, but then gets the real Kristen and Dylan mad at Massie by spreading a lie that Massie called Kristen poor and Dylan fat so that she can have them join her clique. Massie soon finds out and it fails. They all become friends again, but Alicia does have an on/off relationship with the PC (Pretty Committee) due to boy troubles (Bratfest at Tiffany's).

[edit] Love life

Many boys fancy her because of her beauty. In the third book, Alicia has a crush on Harris Fisher, and Cam Fisher gives her Harris' number because she asked Claire out for him. Then when she realizes that Harris isn't into her, she decides to forget that she ever liked him. Later on, her crush is Josh Hotz, an attendee of Briarwood Academy. Josh Hotz was rumoured to be expelled from another private school, Hotchkiss, for pulling the fire alarm before a big test. Josh loves Ralph Lauren, just like Alicia. In Sealed with a Diss they wear the same Polo button-down twice. He is also a member of the Briarwood soccer team.

In Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Claire kisses Josh at the end of the book, and in the next book, The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, it is implied that Josh likes Claire. Alicia then seeks revenge by trying to kiss Cam, Claire's ex-boyfriend. Claire and Alicia make up by the end of the book, though. In Sealed With a Diss, Alicia goes to Skye Hamilton's graduation costume party with Josh, who now likes her. They dressed up as Ralph Lauren and his wife, Ricky. Though Massie has instated a mandatory boy ban for a while, and Alicia decides to follow Massie's order, so she takes off Josh's hat that he gave her and states that she's in. The New Pretty Committee is formed. Alicia however, quickly forgets that they hate boys, applauding them when they come in the auditorium. Massie reminds her, however.

In Bratfest at Tiffany's, The Pretty Committee is on a "boyfast" and any girl in TPC seen with a boy will get kicked out of The N(New)P(Pretty)C(Committee). Josh then sneaks into the broadcast room just to see Alicia and she finds out the he wasn't supposed to hang out with her either, but they both like each other and can't help it. Josh then gives her a New York Yankee's hat and promises to make a plan so that they can be together without the NPC, or worse Massie, finding out. Alicia really doesn't want to lose him due to having finally found a guy who likes her for herself and not her boobs. Josh's plan is to take Massie's table(18) and have Alicia join them so they won't be separated. The rest of the NPC gets put in trailers(which Massie later gives a makeover) and she constantly wears Josh's New York Yankee's hat around school because Massie and the rest of the NPC aren't around to see. When Massie see's Alicia wearing Josh's NYY hat on T.V. she gets kicked out of the NPC. In the end of the book, Massie lets Alicia back in the Pretty Committee by saying that if Alicia could get rid of the boys, she would be back in. BOCD was having a pimp my locker competition and the winners would get to go to the Tiffany and Co trailers(which were the overflow trailers that Massie gave a makeover). The only kids who didn't want to be in the trailers were the soccer boys because they thought it would give their team a girly reputation. Alicia announces that the boys (Derrington, Kemp, Josh, Cam, and Plovert) won and contest and will be in the Tiffany and Co trailers. Massie then lets Alicia back in the pretty committee and calls off the "boyfast" but Alicia and Josh's relationship status is unclear at this point because Alicia had taken off Josh's NYY hat and thrown it in a bush outside.

[edit] Dylan Marvil

Dylan is the third member of the Pretty Committee. She is said to be two inches taller and wider than the rest of the girls, therefore she considers herself fat, and is constantly trying to lose weight in different ways. However, she loves food, which proves her diets to be unsuccessful. Dylan has red curls and green eyes. Her mother, Merri-Lee Marvil, is the famous talk show host of The Daily Grind. She also has the inside scoop on all the celebrity gossip. Dylan has a very crude sense of humor and breaks up awkward moments by farting or burping. In Dial L for Loser she and Kristen must stay in Westchester. Dylan Marvil is a fictional character in The Clique series an ongoing series of books by Lisi Harrison.

Dylan loves to eat, and is constantly on diets. Although her friends tell her that she is not fat, Dylan never believes them and usually ends up on a strange diet, such as an All-Bran diet in Dial L for Loser and a Zone diet in 'The Clique'. Unlike the other girls in the clique, Dylan's style is more comfy-cozy than ultra hip. Dylan is less high-maintained, and has no problem burping or making jokes her friends sometimes consider "disgusting." Dylan hates missing out in school, as said by Massie because she went to school with the flu in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. It is also said that Dylan's mom gives three times more compliments to Dylan's friends (mostly Alicia) than her own daughter.

Dylan's mother, Merri Lee, is the famous talk show host of The Daily Grind, a popular TV show. In "The Pretty Committee Strikes Back", she gets very angry at her mom because she goes on their camping trip with her film crew and gets cozy with Dylan's geography teacher, Mr. Myner. Who Dylan's father is remains unknown, but readers speculate that there was a divorce. Dylan also has sisters, although the exact amount remains unknown.

Dylan will be portrayed by Sophie Anna Everhard in the upcoming Clique movie.

[edit] Appearance

Dylan is described as having a 'thick curly mass of fiery red hair', but gets her hair straightened in Bratfest at Tiffany's, emerald-green eyes and being two inches taller and wider than the other girls of the Pretty Committee. Though she is described as having a broad figure, Dylan is obsessed with her weight and dieting, although in The Pretty Committee Strikes Back it appeared that she had "no more goals". However in the next book, Dial L for Loser she is back on a diet, which involves only eating bran. After she learns in Sealed with a Diss that some boys like girls who eat, she is back to eating what she wants. This causes a problem when she gains weight, making the rest of the Pretty Committee worried, especially Massie.

[edit] Love life

In the Clique series, Dylan has never had a boyfriend. However, in Best Friends for Never she and Kristen get in a fight because they both like Derrick Harrington, nicknamed "Derrington" by Massie. However, it turned out that he was only accepting their date invitations because he thought Massie, his real crush, would be there.

After her love bout for Derrington, Dylan has a crush on Chris Plovert, who is currently on crutches. Although she took him to the Love Struck Dance in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, right now nothing is serious between them. In Sealed with a Diss, Dylan learns via ESP vision (Emotional Sensitivity Powwows, a secret class the boys take to discuss how they feel), that Chris Plovert and Kemp Hurley both like her. She also learns that they like girls who eat and don't get grossed out by regular boy stuff. She takes them both as their dates to Skye's party, but they break up with her because they feel that dating her is like living with Shrek.

In The Clique Summer Collection: Dylan she gets a crush on resort owners son, J.T. But loses him to Svetlana Slootskyia, pro tennis star. She then gains the heart of tennis star Brody Erickson.

[edit] Kristen Gregory

Kristen is the famous soccer star at OCD. She has a very healthy, strong body that helps her in sports. She seems to be the nicest and the most human girl in the Pretty Committee besides Claire. Kristen is actually poor, living in an apartment and only going to OCD on a scholarship. She is very smart, has dirty blond hair, and aqua colored eyes. Her dad used to be a rich art dealer until he lost all his fortune. In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back she hops a bus to Lake Placid when her uptight mother thinks she is at a soccer game and loses her scholarship. In Dial L for Loser she and Dylan must stay in Westchester. Kristen Gregory

Kristen will be portrayed by Bridgit Mendler in The Clique movie.

[edit] Personality and family

Kristen Michelle Gregory is a member of the The Pretty Committee, the ruling A-list clique at Octavian County Day School, a private girls school in Westchester, New York. The other members of the Pretty Committee, and her closest friends, are Dylan Marvil, Massie Block, Alicia Rivera, and Claire Lyons.

The major difference between Kristen and the other girls (with the exception of Claire) is that she is poor and is at OCD on a scholarship. Her parents are very strict. Her dad used to be a rich art dealer, but lost all of his money a few years before. Her friends (with the exception of Claire, who finds out in the first book) don't know until the third book of the series, Revenge of the Wannabes. She seems very polite and is super smart, often correcting things.

Kristen loves word games. She is always saying mixed up words for her friends, which they do not always understand. In the beginning of the series, Kristen likes crossword-speak, like for example, ehmagawd, give me a six-letter word for scandal, gossip, but later on finds she enjoys word jumbles more, like on yaw= no way.

Kristen loves to play soccer, and is the star player and captain on OCD's soccer team, the Sirens. Her parents are very strict about what she wears and does. She changes her clothes from conservative to fashionable in the back of Massie's Range Rover every morning. In Best Friends for Never, Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, and again in Dial L for Loser, the strictness of her parents is shown, by being grounded and being forced to study when she gets kicked out of school (The Pretty Committee Strikes Back). She often complains about being the only clique member who is actually disciplined. Kristen seems to be super best friends with Dylan, as they are always seen together.

[edit] Appearance

Kristen is described as having a tiny frame made entirely of muscle, sharp soccer calves, dirty blond hair, a perfect, J-shaped nose, narrow aqua eyes, and thin lips. In the fourth book of the Clique series, Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Nina, Alicia's cousin, said that Kristen has "sexy, defined legs". In the same book, all her long hair gets cut off in a tragic haircut and leaves her looking like a boy (although Abby Boyd in Dial L for Loser calls it sophisticated). Eventulaly her hair grows back longer than ever. She wears red Revlon lipstick so that people realize that she is female in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. Kristen and Claire have a lot in common, appearance-wise. They are both rather flat-chested and they are both blond. In sealed with a diss she waers all black gotic type clothing to make Griffen like her.

[edit] Love life

Like Dylan, Kristen doesn't have a major love interest until the second book. In Best Friends for Never, she and Dylan have a fight because they both like soccer-playing Derrick Harrington, dubbed Derrington. However, he has an interest in the Pretty Committee's alpha, Massie. After her ill-fated crush on Derrington, she develops a somewhat of a crush in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, on Kemp Hurley. However, it is only so she will win a bet and be kissed before Dylan. She chooses Kemp Hurley because he thinks she is a pervert but later, ESP tells her that Kemp Hurley likes Dylan in the book Sealed with a Diss.

In Sealed with a Diss, after Skye makes it clear that the girls have to bring dates, she decides to go with a goth named Griffin Hastings, whose father owns many pizza restaurants, where he works at as a busboy. After watching ESP vision, the secret camera inside the boy's feelings class, she thinks Griffin is really into poetry and love novels, when it was a really just to get a passing grade in ESP. He breaks up with her at Skye's party for keeping on thinking and asking about being sensitive and talking about The Notebook . In [[Bratfest At Tiffany's]] it is stated that Dune Baxter, the brother of the girl she babysat over the summer, gave her a shark tooth necklace. Therefore, she is finally interested in him.

[edit] Claire Lyons

Claire is the newest member of the Pretty Committee, having moved from Orlando, Florida to live in Massie's guest house. She is annoying and not as pretty as all the other girls. She is also poorer than the rest of the girls, which results in her borrowing many outfits from Massie and usually spoiling them. Claire and Massie are very close, though Massie makes fun of her flat platform Keds and normal boring outfits many times. In the first book, Massie attempts to make Claire's life miserable, which she successfully does until Claire stands up for herself and forms a tentative bond with Massie. She dates Cam Fisher, a blue-eyed-green-eyed guy. He breaks up with her after a misunderstanding in Sealed with a Diss. Claire loves eating gummy candy. Claire has one sibling, Todd Lyons, who is often goofing off and annoys her. She gets a part in the movie Dial L For Loser over Massie or Alicia. She will be portrayed by Ellen Marlow in the upcoming movie.

Claire Stacy Lyons is from a middle class family from Orlando, Florida. Her father, Jay, is an old college friend of Massie Block's father. The Lyons family moves into the stone guesthouse onto the sprawling Block estate, much to Massie's disdain.

She is not a member of TPC (the Pretty Committee) until the third book. The other members of the Pretty Committee, and her closest friends in Westchester, are Massie, Alicia Rivera, Dylan Marvil, and Kristen Gregory. She is also friends with non-pretty committee members, like Layne Abeley. When she first moved to Westchester in the first book, the Pretty Committee tried (and succeeded) in making her life miserable, but she is eventually accepted. She is the main protagonist of the series, along with Massie and Alicia.

Throughout the series, she's always felt the need to impress the girls, and feels as if she always has something to prove. Claire is in the same grade as Massie and the rest of the Pretty Committee. Claire is very kind (except to her younger brother, Todd). However, she may have a trick up her sleeve once in a while, but she doesn't like doing bad things without a very good reason.

Claire, like Kristen Gregory, is somewhat small, flat-chested, bright blue eyes, and is five foot three. With her wispy blonde bangs, Keds, and Gap wardrobe, Massie and the others don't think much of her. She has a simple, casual dress sense, and usually wears sneakers. Due to this, she has to put up with constant teasing from the other girls in The Pretty Committee. Her bangs were short in the first book, but then she began to grow them out until the fifth book, when Layne ruins them. Massie's hairdresser Jakkob fixes them, so they are now super short. In It's Not Easy Being Mean it is stated she has white-blonde hair. She likes it when Massie lets her raid her closet. In Dial L for Loser she gets Comp Boxes from designers, but agrees to share with her friends.

In the second book, Best Friends for Never, Claire develops a crush on Cam Fisher (Massie's crush) at Massie's boy-girl Halloween party. In the third book, Revenge of the Wannabes, Cam tells Alicia that he likes Claire, and tells her to talk to her for him while he talks to his older brother Harris about Alicia. Alicia also finds out that Massie likes Cam, and can't wait to spread the word (Massie likes Cam but he likes Claire). In the end, Massie decides to let Claire have Cam, and begins her crush on Derrick Harrington. At the end of the third book, Cam and Claire become a couple.

In the fifth book, The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Claire tries to get back with Cam after she shared a kiss with Josh Hotz after the Briarwood Academy soccer finals against Grayson Academy in the fourth book. When she fails to make him forgive her, she asks Massie for help. She dresses up as a boy and sneaks out in the middle of the night to apologize about Josh, and Cam forgives her. When she finds him with Alicia almost kissing, however, she becomes mad at him. She eventually forgives him when he dresses like a girl, proving that he'll do anything to get her back. They kiss, and she and Alicia patch things up while Josh goes back to Alicia.

In Dial L for Loser, Claire goes to Hollywood to become the star of a new movie. When Massie sends Cam a picture message of Claire kissing her co-star for the last scene, he finds out that she had to kiss a teen star for her role, and he becomes jealous and breaks up with her again. But at the end, he forgives her and they French kiss.

In It's Not Easy Being Mean, Claire doesn't spend a lot of time with Cam. She is so busy with her movie career and Massie's quest to find the key to a secret room that she hardly has any time. But they do not encounter any problems in this book.

In the eighth book, Sealed with a Diss, Claire finds out about a mysterious girl, Nikki, who instant messages Cam. She finds this out by a hidden camera (located in their secret room) that gives the girls viewing to a secret class taken by the boys. Throughout the book she acts cold and distant because of this secret she can't reveal to him. At Skye Hamilton's graduation party, Claire tells Cam that she knows about Nikki and accuses him of two-timing her. Cam is so hurt and upset he breaks up with her and leaves the party without her. Later, Layne helps Claire find Nikki's MySpace page, and reads her latest blog. It states that she was in love with Cam, but he didn't want her because he was in love with Claire. Feeling guilty that she accused him of cheating on her with Nikki, she tries to call him to apologize, but Cam refuses to answer her calls or talk to her. They remain broken up throughout the rest of the book, and Claire participates in Massie's boy fast, which is easier said than done because the Briarwood boys will be going to school at OCD the following year.

In Bratfest at Tiffany's, Claire is depressed when she sees that Cam has moved on to another girl, Olivia Ryan. Claire is set up as a "stepmother" for Olivia and Cam when they have to do a baby assignment in class. Claire decides that the only way to make Cam like her again is to get him jealous. She ends up flirting with Dempsey on TV, which makes Cam realize that he misses Claire. Claire finds the deserted baby in the hallway, and comforts it. Cam approaches Claire and tells her he misses her. She realizes at that moment that if Cam was only asking for her back was because he was jealous, then she doesn't want him. She only wants to leave Massie and the New Pretty Committee if it was for real love. Determined to set an example for the 'baby' about being strong, Claire forces herself to walk away and not bother with the people that make her sad anymore. At the end of the book, Cam sends her a text telling her that he dumped Olivia. She does not say anything back. It is unknown if they will be together.

[edit] Layne Abeley

Layne is a friend that Claire has outside TPC. Layne's best friends are Claire Lyons and two other girls named Meena and Heather. Layne befriended Claire on her first day at OCD. At the first book Claire ditched Layne to go to Massie's sleepover. Also in the first book, Massie pretended to be friends with Layne to get to her older brother, Chris Abeley, who she had a crush on at the time. Layne gets her period in the 5th book. Claire and Layne were both mad at each other for ditching to hang out with Massie (which they both did), but made up and were friends again.

She will be portrayed by Vanessa in the upcoming movie.

[edit] Love life

In the second book, Massie sets Layne up with a boy named Eli. However, the relationship doesn't last long and they break up. Layne tells Claire that she didn't like kissing Eli anyway because their braces got stuck. She also mentions that he wore more eyeliner than she did. In the book before the summer collection titled Bratfest At Tiffany's Layne's longtime friend(who was once very "chunky")Dempsey Solomon comes back to BOCD with a new look, that Massie falls in love with. Dempsey falls for Layne , Massie and Claire!!!
