The Champion (Pub)

The Champion is a Samuel Smith's pub in Fitzrovia in London. It is located on the corner of Wells Street and Eastcastle Street.
The pub has stained glass windows depicting the following British people, all of whom are notable for their achievements, predomindantly in sport but also in other walks of life:
- William Rensham
- Captain Bertie Dwyer
- Young Tom Morris
- Bob Fitzsimmons
- Florence Nightingale
- W. G. Grace
- The Earl of Mayo
- Edward Whymper
- Captain Matthew Webb
- David Livingstone
The pub attracts a lot of celebrities from music and t.v. and seems popular with comedians. The pub is also popular with tourists and is frequented by international beer aficionados such as Jose Formoso,Gino Sabatino and Miriam Moreno.
Other notable clients include Andy "Not allowed out anymore" Kehoe, Ben Parfitt Nick Ormerod and Mick Jagger impersonator Charlie Fletcher.
The pub serves the traditional Sam Smiths fayre, including the popular 'man in the box', well known for the hangover it creates the next day.
In a recent poll completed in the pub Matthew Webb was voted the "Champion of the Champion", despite strong competition from Captain Bertie Dwyer.
