The Castle of Mirrors (2005) is the fourth novel in the Children of the Red King series by Jenny Nimmo. It has a different title in the United States, titled Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors.[1]

Charlie's magical gifts begin to take on a new dimension, as he attempts to escape a ghostly horse loose in the castle ruin. Strange new characters emerge, such as teacher Tantalus Ebony, florist Alice Angel and student Joshua Tilpin, who possesses the power of magentism. Meanwhile, Charlie's close friend Olivia begins to suffer a crisis when she is turned down for a movie role, and Billy Raven is ecstatic to be offered a home with the de Greys, although with devastating consequences. Charlie also comes a few steps closer to finding his lost father.

Charlie is once again back at Bloor's Academy. His friend, Billy Raven, has finally been adopted by the de Greys, but little does he know that the de Greys are just as bad as the Bloors in treating Billy, Mr de Grey can create forcefields which imprisons Billy for a while. Luckily, he is rescued by the Flames. Also, a new and mysterious endowed student arrives at Bloor's Academy, called Joshua Tilpin. After many difficult challenges in rescuing Billy, Charlie starts uncovering secrets about Queen Berenice, the wife of the Red King, who carries him to the Castle of Mirrors. There, he meets a trapped man, which Charlie suspects to be his long-lost father, Lyell Bone, who sadly is not. It is discovered that Olivia is also endowed with illusion.
