[edit] Tape scene:

Hybrid scene: Jim comes out of a building and sees a brown car (studio set medium shot on Jim) and goes down the stairs to enter the car. Inside the vehicle, it is recycled footages from "Echo of Yesterday" (see the change of jacket the street is different).

[edit] Summary:

Scientist Dr. Rojak is forced to work on a missile by Colonel Ziegler while East German communist officials hold his wife hostage. Soviet assassin Alexander Ventlos is sent to kill Dr. Rojak and take the identity of Captain Praedo to sneak into the center buried at minus 100 meters below the ground. Cinnamon is denounced as an impostor and sent to the State Security HQ in order to save Anna Rojak thanks to a double latex mask and Willy's motorized pulley activated by a mini remote control.

[edit] Cast and details:

Bunker head Colonel Ziegler and the State Officials: General Frash, Major Strat and Dr. Dromm, blackmailed Dr. Erich Rojak and his convict wife Anna are played by David Sheiner, Martin Kosleck, George Fisher and George Sperdakos, Milton Selzer and Lee Meriwether--that will turn into IMFer Tracey next season! After Stefan Miklos, writer Paul Playdon creates another strong adversary: Alexander Ventlos aka the Soviet "anti-Rollin," an assassin who is a master of disguises and voices--he imitates the voice of Ziegler in a phone booth to contact Captain Preado and orders him to meet him in the State Security HQ with a schematic of the underground laboratory and fuel complex then, disguised as Captain Praedo, he stabs him in the belly in a road's ambush. The phone booth location is also used in "Live Bait" but by Cinnamon and Stephanie.

Jim poses as OBQ Centrale Security officer Major Anton Thorvold (ID n° 73942)--carrying orange sunglasses--who accuses Cinnamon-as-Major Nadja Bradislav of being a fake; Jim carries a metallic suitcase (that hides the hovercraft disk that he plants in the vent, a needle and a radio) with an electronic counter to detect intruders if they're not stamped by a chemical invisible ink. The secret service as OBQ Centrale reminds the OGU Central from "Live Bait". Colonel Ziegler checks all new officers ID with his "Secürit Clerenz" computer hidden in the top drawer of his desk.

Cinnamon poses as brunette Major Nadja Bradislav to enter the bunker in Part I and disguises as Anna Rojak to return to the bunker in Part II; the latex masks of brunette Cinnamon aka Nadja Bradislav (cell n° 14) and Anna Rojak (cell n° 12) are the actual faces of the characters: very strange.

Barney poses as a "Stat Telefon" repairman to get down in the sewer and connect a cable back to his van where he transmits the ID of Jim-as-Thorvold to Ziegler's monitor. Barney masters and triggers a fireworks via his black square remote control to shake the arrival of Colonel Ziegler: a series of bullet's impacts (ground's impact, the explosion of Jim's tire and bullet's impacts on his windshield) close to Jim's car and two flashers hidden in the branches to simulate the noise of firing machine guns.

Willy poses as a house painter working in a nacelle and also as a State Security guard to free Anna Rojak. As in "Recovery", Willy is involved in a tight vent and here, the chimney. Willy neutralizes the alarm system ("Alarüm Master Kontröl") with a spray that releases some fire-fighting foam a la Jules Dassin's "Du rififi chez les hommes". Dr. Rojak despises Dr. Dromm and treats him as a valet by calling him Dromm and asking him to bring him some coffee.

This episode features no dossier scene hence the appearance of the IMF logo at the start of Act I before the bunker's sign: "Entrat Verbaten". The State Security Building ("Stat Secürit HDQ") is the Paramount building. This episode is a festival of Gellerese idioms: the lock of the bunker that reads "klöse - openz", the threatening sign at the entry of the restricted road: "Dänjer - Zabef Mining Co." that is crossed out by "Entrat Verbaten"; the bunker's elevator known as "Elevaten - 1/2 Kilometer"; the corridor's signs as "Administrat - Securit - Barrak". Jim's military East German car is a 1950's US one painted in a sinister dark grey and remind the standardized olive drab one from "The Exchange".

[edit] Stock music:

"The Exchange" (the preparation of the fireworks by Jim and Barney; Barney customizes the telephone line in the sewer) "Pilot" (Barney stages the fireworks with his black remote control) "The Council" (Willy gets down in the State Security's chimney) "The Cardinal" (Willy frees Anna Rojak from her cell) "Operation Rogosh" (the chimney escape of Anna Rojak and Willy)
