[edit] History

Formed in 2002, The Bronx was signed to record label Island Def Jam Records with twelve live shows under their belt [1]. They quickly established something of a cult following in many parts of the United States, Europe and Australia with heavy touring, intense live shows and their unusual blend of 1980's hardcore punk and modern day rock music.

The band released two full length self-titled albums (in 2003 and 2006) as well as two limited edition EPs including Bats!. A live DVD, titled Live At The Annandale, was recorded at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney, Australia and released by their own record label, White Drugs. 2006 saw the release of their second self-titled album, which contains the singles "White Guilt", "History's Stranglers," and the airplay track "Shitty Future.", as well as Ken Horne (The Dragons) joining the band on second guitar, and has been confirmed as a permanent addition to the band, giving the band wider dynamics for a more explosive stage set. News was recently given on their official website that The Bronx are recording two albums this time around, both again self-titled. One will be a punk record (The Bronx) and the other will be a mariachi version of this (El Bronx)[2].

[edit] Influences

The Bronx's style is highly influenced by many bands from the 1980s hardcore scene, such as Black Flag, Fear and the Bad Brains, as well as 70's punk bands like The Saints and The Victims. This is blended with more modern day rock guitar riffs and a hardcore style of drumming to further the band's unique style.

[edit] Appearances in other media

The Bronx have two songs in two different Need For Speed games. "Notice Of Eviction" is in Need For Speed: Underground 2 and "Around The Horn" is in Need For Speed: Carbon. Recently, in the Germs biopic, What We Do Is Secret, The Bronx portrayed Black Flag.
