The Book Depository is a UK-based online book seller founded in 2004 by Andrew Crawford.
Its motto is to make "All Books Available to All". The company's expected turnover in 2007-2008 is expected to be over £35m, up from £24m in 2006-2007.[1][2][3]
The site's other projects are self-publishing project entitled Espressio, allowing consumers to print their own books, and BibDib, a book database.[4] The company also owns the imprint Dodo Press which reissues up to 200 classic titles every week. The Book Depository owns the Egyptian company ElKotob.com
In 2007, the business was a finalist for a Fast Growth Business Award[5] and won 2 UK Startup Awards.[6][7][8] In 2006, it was nominated as The Direct to Consumer Bookselling Company of the Year and was awarded The Nielsen BookNet Supply Chain Initiative of the Year at The Bookseller Retail Awards.[9]
