The Body, The Blood, The Machine is The Thermals' third album. The album was released on August 22, 2006 on Sub Pop Records, and was produced by Fugazi's Brendan Canty. According to the band's official website, "the album tells the story of a young couple who must flee a United States governed by fascist faux-Christians."

[edit] Biblical references

Religious imagery and stories are scattered throughout the album. The first two verses of "Here's Your Future" focus on Noah and the Great Flood, while the last is about The Crucifixion. "I Might Need You to Kill" is about Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. "Pillar of Salt" tells the story of the escape from Sodom and Gomorrah.
