The Blackbirder

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Blackbirder is a 1943 novel by Dorothy B. Hughes.

It is Classic Noir, with a moody, war-time Santa Fe setting. At the center of The Blackbirder is Julie Guille, a woman who embodies a 1940s version of feminism that includes common sense, street smarts, and the desire to sing while ironing. There is a great twist at the end.
