[edit] History

The band recorded their first song in February of 2006, as a Valentine's gift to Geert van der Velde girlfriend. The band made their first live appearance at the Eurosonic festival in January 2007. In March and April the band (with a new line up) supported the singer/songwriter Luke Pickett. In July, van der Velde managed to play 13 US (East Coast) dates around the release of the band debut EP Send This Home, recorded in 2006 and released by Five Point Records (USA) on July 10th, 2007. Geert van der Velde finished his first solo tours of the USA opening up for Tim Williams and has toured the Netherlands and Germany in January, February of 2008.

The Black Atlantic will tour Europe in May with Saturday Looks Good to Me and has recorded a new single to be released on van der Velde's label Ham Radio Communications in 2008. The band has signed a worldwide distribution deal with Cargo through German Indie label Midsummer Records.[1]
