Today many consider the album to be "Classic Kitsch", and it is considered to be collectable by some. The album consists of tracks recorded by the Top of the Poppers during the year 1970.

As with most Top of the Poppers albums, critics panned The Best of Top of the Pops '70 when it was first released. However, Today the album's reputation has improved, with Dave Thompson of All Music Guide giving it 3/5.
