The Bad Examples

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bad Examples is a pop rock, alternative, or indie group. They are from Chicago, Illinois but have had some success in European markets also. They formed in 1987. The driving force behind the band is singer songwriter Ralph Covert who also plays rhythm guitar. The band has significant changes in the line up from album to album which lends itself to variations in their sound. Even though the line up changes, for the most part it recycles itself within a core group of musicians.

The Bad Examples are not disbanded but are limited in performing and putting out new albums. This is because Ralph Covert is currently creating music for children under the Ralph’s World brand. Ralph’s World is rock n’ roll musically but the lyrics and themes are oriented towards kids. Some of these albums have been nominated for Grammy Awards. Ralph's World is currently contracted with Disney. In addition, the lead guitarist of the Bad Examples, John Duich, died of heart failure in 1998.

The Bad Examples put out 5 full length LP's on Waterdog Records

Bad Is Beautiful features the song "Not Dead Yet" which received airplay on WXRT 93.1 in Chicago as well as other college stations in the area. Styx also covered it on their 1990 release Edge Of The Century. The song is also featured in an episode of season three of Six Feet Under ("The Trap").
