In 2006, the band were a headlining act for 'T4 on the Beach, they performed along with Pop-Rock act The All American Rejects, and Pop act Lily Allen, and a number of other acts.[2] At the end of which Robin Hawkins gives away the bass guitar he has been using for the performance. Similarly to there GMTV performance they were forced to mime, again leading to the band playing whilst drunk, however this time not as much destruction was caused by the band mates.[3][4][5]

The festival held in Balado, Kinross-shire, Scotland. Other artists featured on the Futures Stage on the Sunday included Boy Kill Boy, The Fratellis, Milburn, Phoenix, Lily Allen, Brakes, The Maccabees, The Marshals, Fear of Music and Rushmore.[6]

Fellow Welshmen Goldie Lookin Chain joined the band on stage in Reading to perform a cover of Kanye West's "Gold Digger", which was first played on Radio 1's Live Lounge.[8]

In 2007, The Automatic headlined the NME Awards Indie Rock Tour, along with Scottish band The View, The Horrors and Mumm-Ra. The Automatic have recently voiced their opinion in NME on The Horrors saying "they've just got big hair", however, The Horrors have recently said this feud has been resolved after the Automatic insisted on a game of 'paper, scissors, stone'. On February 2 The Automatic gave The View the opportunity to headline the NME indie rock concert at Carling Academy in Glasgow.[9]They have showcased two new songs "Steve McQueen" and "Revolution" as well as a new cover of "Life During Wartime" originally by The Talking Heads.[10]

This was the first headlining tour in the United States by the band.[14]

The bands first tour with new guitarist Paul Mullen involved touring some of the smaller less-known venues and clubs of the United Kingdom. The tour involved the band playing a 50/50 split of old and new material. Many of the songs played on the first album were chosen by the bands fans who set up a poll on there forum.[17] By the time the band began touring "By My Side", "Recover" and "That's What She Said" were all favored by fans, many of the b-sides were also requested.

From this point the lineup consisted of:

  • Robin Hawkins (Lead vocals, bass guitar)
  • James Frost (Guitar, synth, backing vocals)
  • Paul Mullen (Guitar, synth, backing vocals)
  • Iwan Griffiths (Drums)

During performances, synthesizer and keyboard duties would be split between Frost and Mullen.[18]

The performances at The Blake Theatre in Monmouth on the 28 March, Central Station in Wrexham on the 29 March, The Galleri in Caernarfon on 30 March, Brycheiniog Theatre in Brecon 31 March 2008 were all re-scheduled after the band required further time to rehearse there new and old songs.[19][20]

At the first date of the tour (Exeter Cavern) the band opened with a new song to open the tour, tittled "Light Entertainment".[21]

Band friends Viva Machine toured with the band on all of the dates, Canterbury toured on five of the dates, and fellow Welsh act Attack Attack played the final date of the first leg at Cardiff.

Rocklouder Magazine were given a place for one of their journalists to tour with the bands (The Automatic, Viva Machine, Canterbury), being the first website (other than fan filmed videos on Youtube) to broadcast footage of the band with there new lineup featuring Paul Mullen.[22]

Originally the tour was scheduled to take place in from 14 June 2008 to 24 June 2008 however due to the recording of the album This Is A Fix it was pushed back to September.[27]
