The Amenta are an industrial death metal band based in Sydney, Australia.
Their stated philosophy is the deconstruction and exposition of all codes of morality that serve no real purpose, such as religion. The band is on Listenable Records. Their first album Occasus won them acclaim from since-defunct heavy metal music magazine Kerrang!: they were awarded Best Metal Newcomers for 2004.
In May 2006 the band lost services of their vocalist who has since been replaced. They have since played several live shows with their new vocalist, most notably on the Festival of the Dead national tour with Akercocke and The Berzerker. In 2007, they supported Blackened Death Metal giants Behemoth on their national tour.
In August 2007 The Amenta released the Virus DVD as an extra with the limited re-release of Occasus/Mictlan
The new album entitled 'n0n 'is due for release in 2008
Lyrically the album is said to deal with shadowy ideals and moral compromises of this sick new world. Song Titles: Skin, Whore, Vermin, Spine, Rape, Slave, Entropy, Atrophy, Dystrophy, Cancer, Junky and Dirt.
