The Afternoon Play (BBC)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Afternoon Play is the name of a long running radio drama slot on BBC Radio 4. A television series of the same name briefly appeared on BBC One and is current repeated on UKTV Gold.

The Afternoon Play is broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 14:15 (BST) every weekday. The BBC One version aired from 2003 to 2007 as a regular New Year fixture, each series of five stripped over a single week.

Several Afternoon Plays were included in the package of programmes held in twenty underground radio stations of the BBC's Wartime Broadcasting Service, designed to provide public information and morale-boosting broadcasts for 100 days after a nuclear attack[1].

Although normally original one-off drama, an episode in July 2008 will feature the characters and cast of Torchwood. [1]
