[edit] Ryouga Hakua
Ryouga Hakua (伯亜 凌駕 Hakua Ryōga?) / AbaRed (アバレッド Abareddo?): 22 years old. The optimistic team leader, a certified environmental protection investigator from the United States. Though he's overly confident, he has an extremely good nature and is friendly, warm hearted, and loving; he doesn't hate anyone. He was given guardianship of Mai after his brother and sister-in-law died and does his best to raise her. He eventually gained the power to become AbareMax (アバレマックス Abare Makkusu?). In the epilogue, he has returned to USA, and travels across the country along with Mai. His Burstosaur partners are Tyranno and Styraco & DinoCarry.
- Dino Weapons: Tyranno Rod, StyRiser
- Special Attacks: Tyranno Rod Circle Moon, Atmosphere Explosion Max Field, Red Hurricane Attack, Max Dynamite, Abare Strike
[edit] Yukito Sanjou
Yukito Sanjou (三条 幸人 Sanjō Yukito?) / AbareBlue (アバレブルー Abareburū?): 21 years old. A charismatic chiropractor and the anti-hero of the group, Yukito will help anyone, but charges outrageously high prices for it: in fact, he asked Asuka for U.S. $400,000,000 in order to assume his role as AbareBlue, something Asuka naively accepted and promised to save and pay, much to Yukito's surprise. He seems cold, but has a kind heart underneath, though he will never fully reveal his feelings. Yukito chose to move into the Dino House with the others to avoid having to communte from the area where he lives. Yukito's anti-social personality comes from his past: when he was little, his father tried to succeed him into taking over the Sanjou Corporation for the future. Yukito was forced to study daily and was never given breaks; he wasn't even allowed to have any friends. The last straw that broke the father-son relationship was when his father paid his girlfriend's family to move away while he was in junior high. Yukito never forgave him for that and claimed that he hated him, but in reality, he harbored a self-loathing for a long time. In the epilogue, Yukito returned to his chiropractor business, and the finale and Dekaranger vs. Abaranger seems to imply that Yukito is in a relationship with Emiri. His Burstosaur partner is Kera.
- Dino Weapon: Tricera Bunker
- Special Attacks: Tricera Rolling Finish, Blue Slash
[edit] Ranru Itsuki
Ranru Itsuki (樹 らんる Itsuki Ranru?) / AbareYellow (アバレイエロー Abareierō?): 20 years old. A technology mistress who owns a German BD-1 bicycle she nicknamed "Birdie." All she really wants is peace. She was formerly trained to be an idol, but Ranru hated it and left to work in the mechanical field. She is interested in anything mechanical, can create her own devices, and is a genius in mechanics. Ranru used to be afraid of nattō until she was forced to conquer it during a battle with a Trinoid. Ranru also carries a small camera with her and usually snaps photos of the enemy during mid-battle to come up with a strategy on how to defeat it. She sometimes has an itchy back and often wants others to scratch it for her. In the finale, Ranru goes to work at a racetrack. Her Burstosaur partner is Ptera.
- Dino Weapon: Ptera Daggers
- Special Attacks: Ptera Spion Crash
[edit] Asuka
Asuka (アスカ Asuka?) / AbareBlack (アバレブラック Abareburakku?): A warrior from DinoEarth with a sad past. He was the last of people to fight the Evolians and escaped to Earth. He brought the Dino Bracelets and gave them to the Abarangers. When he arrived, the Dino Harp was damaged, so he couldn't transform. When he got it finally restored, he lost his first battles as he couldn't use his Dino Guts correctly, until his true sense of justice awakened. Asuka has shown enormous amounts of power, as he has been able even of defeating a Giganoid and an upgraded KillerGhost on his own: however, due to his gentle personality, he often holds back during battles. In one episode, it was revealed that his surname was "Ono", although he only uses it on Another Earth. His Burstosaur partner is Brachio. In the finale Asuka and Mahoro named their new child Mikoto, after Abarekiller, and returned to Dino Earth with his family and the Burstosaurs. During the events of Dekaranger vs. Abaranger, Asuka was brought back to Earth by Kasumi's power to help the gang, and he was able to rescue Ryouga and Ban/DekaRed from Kazaku before they joined up with the others. Asuka appeared in the GoGo Sentai Boukenger vs. Super Sentai with Bracho, and his second child. He along with Tetsu, Tsubasa, and Nanami helped Eiji out during his battle with Chronos. He transferred his "Passionate Spirit" power to AkaRed to power DaiVoyager.
- Dino Weapon: Dino Thruster
- Special Attacks: Fire Inferno, Splash Inferno, Storm Inferno, Grand Inferno, Dino Thruster Circle Moon, Dino Thruster Head Crash, Dino Thruster Crescent Moon
[edit] Mikoto Nakadai
Dr. Mikoto Nakadai (仲代 壬琴博士 Nakadai Mikoto-Hakase?) / AbareKiller (アバレキラー Abarekirā?): A brilliant doctor who was bored with his life until the he witnessed the Burstosaurs attacking the city while under Evolian influence, caring for an injured Ryouga in the aftermath. But the new found excitement of destruction was halted when the Abarangers arrived and made the three things that gave Mikoto a thrill into "dull goodies". But soon, with the destruction of the Anamolicarus, Mikoto found both the DinoMinder and TopGaler's egg. After that, Mikoto left his profession to start up his "game". For a while, until his formal introduction, Mikoto observed the Abarangers from the side while mastering the DinoMinder and coming to the conclusion that it be fun to fight against the heroes, thus naming himself "AbareKiller". However, the Zerogo suit is a flawed prototype of the other Abaranger suits with a self-destruct mechanism that could destroy an entire city. Mikoto didn't seem to care that he would die, it actually made things more exciting in "his game". He fought the Abarangers, using their stolen DinoGuts to revive his partner TopGaler before recruiting Stego to their cause.
At one point he even assumed leadership over the villains at Lije's request. After fighting the Killer Giganoid with the Abaranger, it was revealed that the other half of Dezumozorlya is within him, the cause of his horrible childhood while possessing his strength and evil tendencies. However, Mikoto, furious that he was someone else's pawn, decides to refocus his game on the Evoliens. It was also revealed that the reason the Dino Minder hadn't exploded yet was because the Dezumozorlya within him has been keeping it as bay. Soon after though Dezumozorlya was removed from him, and the Dino Minder was set to explode the next time he transformed. When Dino Minder began to self-destruct, he and TopGaler flew away from Earth and both died in the explosion. Mikoto returned for a short time to help the Abaranger and Dekaranger in Dekaranger VS Abaranger, having been revived by SaunaEelGingko's power and vanished again after the enemy was defeated. As he vanished, he told Asuka to give his daughter Mikoto his regards.
- Dino Weapon: Wing Pentact
[edit] Arsenal
- Dino Braces: The Main 3 Abarangers each have their own independent transformation bracelet device. The Dino Plate are models of the Burstosaurs heads and speak for the Burstosaurs (The mouth part to the Dino Brace moves whenever a Burstosaur usually talks to an Abaranger). The henshin call is "Burstosaur Change".
- Dino Commander & Dino Harp: AbareBlack's brace resembling a Brachiosaurus' head, it is gold and black with red buttons. The harp is much like a harmonica. It was damaged in the first episode and this is probably what causes a fight between Asuka and Brachio. He gets his powers back in episode 7. AbareBlack's henshin call is the same as the others.
- Dino Minder: AbareKiller's transformation device which TopGaler or Stego would use to talk to him. His henshin call is the same as the others. The Dino Minder, along with TopGaler's egg, fall from the sky from the Anamolicarus just before the ship was destroyed by AbarenOh.
- Attack Bandit Resistance Suit: It might seem like an ordinary cloth at first glance but neither a bullet nor a weapon can penatrate the fabric. Not even radiation and heat can damage it. Even if a missile goes through, the suits absorbs ninety percent of the damage.
- Abare Mode: Their suit markings pop out as armor plating when they are in battle. The spikes come out of their boots as well. When they do power up, their visor roars.
- Dino Guts: From genesis, the ground has been concealed with spiritual energy. This power has raised to a greater extent in the process of evolution. Creatures (such as the Burstosaurs) have reached the point of evolution that they can attach the powerful spiritual energy wave to themselves. It can be triggered when its user has great courage.
- Zerogo Suit: Prototype of the Attack Bandit Resistance Suits. The Zerogo is also a ticking time-bomb, with enough power to take Tokyo along with it.
- Aba Lasers: The 3 main Abarangers' side-arms. In gun mode, it discharges an energy bullet which can penatrate a concrete of a 1 m thickness. In sword mode, it can slice a 50 cm iron prop.
- Dino Bomber: Combination of the Tyranno Rod, Tricera Bunker and Ptera Daggers. Later on the Dino Thruster, and then the Wing Pentact. It is used to destroy normal sized monsters. Hissatsu Dino Dynamite - finishing move that brings a large blast that destroys the enemy. Riding Dynamite is used while riding on a Road Raptor at 150 km/hour. The blast combines the Dino Guts of the Road Raptor and the Abarangers. It is effective on monsters that can fly away. When combined with the Dino Thruster as Super Dino Bomber, the finisher is upgraded to Super Dino Dynamite, and when combined with the Dino Thruster and Wing Pentact as Superior Dino Bomber, the finisher is known as Hissatsu Superior Dino Dynamite. In Abaranger VS Hurricanger, The Abaranger, Hurricanger and Gouraiger combine their weapons forming Super Dino Victory, by connecting front section of the Super Dino Bomber to the end section of the Hurricanger & Gouraiger's Victory Gadget. The finisher attack of the Super Dino Victory is the Victory Dino Dynamite attack.
- Bakulaser: Appears only in Abaranger Deluxe, an AbaLaser-like weapon. Referred to as the 'Sword of the Seal' in Dino-Earthian legends, as it sealed the Fearsome Burstosaurs after Freesia infused the weapon with her lifeforce. Princess Freesia had half of the BakuLaser in her possession and needed to find the other piece. The other piece was excavated by humans and put in a museum. Ryouga and Freesia sneaked in and steal it. He uses his Dino Guts to reforge it back together. However, "Princess Freesia" was revealed to be Garuvuidei, who used the BakuLaser to form BakurenOh and piloted it until it was destroyed. The BakuLaser returned to Ryouga's possession and it gained the Abaranger emblem. The real Freesia was embedded in the weapon, unable to act on her own. But witnessing the acts Ryouga and gang done, she thanked them before the BakuLaser disappears.
[edit] Road Raptors
The Road Raptors are Velociraptor-like creatures, but are not as intelligent as the Burstosaurs but are very much like horses. The Abarangers' use them as their main transportation.
- Black Road Raptor: AbareBlack's Road Raptor. The Black Road Raptor made a cameo in GoGo Sentai Boukenger Vs Super Sentai.
- Red Road Raptor: Abared's Road Raptor.
- Blue Road Raptor: AbareBlue's Road Raptor.
- Yellow Road Raptor: AbareYellow's Road Raptor.
[edit] Burstosaurs
The Burstosaurs (爆竜 Bakuryū?) are giant Beasts from DinoEarth that evolved from the dinosaurs, they had a mutual friendship with the Ryuujin (Dragon people of Dino Earth) until the Evorians attacked. While most of the Burstosaur eggs were sent to Earth, Tyranno, Kera and Ptera fell under the Evolien's control. Sent to Earth, the three went on a path of destruction until their partners freed them.
When combining, the basic Burstosaur formations use the command "Burstosaur Fusion" (爆竜合体 Bakuryū Gattai?). When an additional Burstosaur is added to a formation, the command "Burstosaur Combine" (爆竜コンバイン Bakuryū Konbain?) is used.
In episode 46, Abarenoh, MaxOhJa and KillerOh performed an attack called Big Burstosaur Advance Attack.
- Burstosaur Brachiosaurus (爆竜ブラキオサウルス Bakuryū Burakiosaurusu?): The biggest Burstosaur, nicknamed "Brachio" (ブラキオ Burakio?), he is wise and calm and hates fighting. Brachio was the only one of the first that was immune to the Evoliens' control due to being already partnered to Asuka. He resides at the bottom of Tokyo Bay and holds most of the other Burstosaurs inside his body until they are needed. He recites rousing poetic speeches (actually puns on select Toei hero songs) when heading into battle. There's some indication that he may be the eldest and wisest of the Burstosaurs. He made a brief cameo in GoGo Sentai Boukenger vs. Super Sentai. He ends his sentences with the word "Bra(Bura)".
- Oo-AbarenOh (オオアバレンオー Ō Abaren'ō?, King King Riot Union King): Created when Abaren'oh combines with Stegoslidon, TopGaler, the two RhamphoGold and SpinoGold. The formation command was "Strongest Burstosaur Fusion" (爆竜最強合体 Bakuryū Saikyō Gattai?). It was only used once to destroy the Killer Giganoid. Its finisher is the Burstosaur Great Abare Full Throttle. Oo-AbarenOh's name is more literally King King Riot Union King, a phrase that may be more elegantly localized as "Hail! Hail! The Riot Union King!".
- Killer AbarenOh (キラーアバレンオー Kirā Abaren'ō?, Killer Riot Union King): Created when AbarenOh combines with TopGaler, initially to defeat Bakuren'oh, then appearing later in the series. The combination command is "Great Burstosaur Fusion!" (爆竜大合体 Bakuryū Dai Gattai?). It attacks by using StegoSlider to slide down Brachio's tail, back, and neck, and then uses All Burstosaur Combinations, an attack which uses Kera, Tyranno, Paki, Dime, Ankylo, and Para as arms at an extremely fast rate before using the Great Drill Spin attack. TopGaler can similarly combine with BakurenOh to form Killer BakurenOh, though this is never seen in the footage.
- AbarenOh (アバレンオー Abaren'ō?, Riot Union King): When Tyranno, Kera and Ptera combine, they form AbarenOh - a humanoid fighting machine. AbarenOh's finisher is the Burstosaur Blitzkrieg Drill Spin attack. Other attacks are the Ptera Cutter, Burstosaur Blast, Tricera Punch, Burstosaur Fire Burst, Tyranno Drill and Burstosaur Salmon Hunter. AbarenOhji (アバレンオージ Abaren'ōji?, Riot Union Prince) is a combination without Ptera. This was created by Ryouga in episode 14 because Ranru was hesitant to destroy the Giganoid, but it is not used again afterwards.
- Burstosaur Tyrannosaurus (爆竜ティラノサウルス Bakuryū Tiranosaurusu?): Nicknamed "Tyranno" (ティラノ Tirano?), the strongest of the three Blastasurs. His jaws, strength and sharp claws make him a tough opponent, but his tail is his greatest weapon, able to drill through anything. Although wise, he has a short fuse when it comes to Ryouga. He shows sympathy towards Mai since he understands the feelings of a father because lost his wife and only child on Dino Earth to the Evolien, so he constantly pushes Ryouga up to be a good father figure for Mai. In fact, in the finale, Tyranno jokingly said to Ryouga that if he and Mai are not happy, he'd come back and get him. Forms the majority of AbarenOh: the head, legs, body, and left arm, and the blade of the Double-Tail Sword. Detaches and donates his tail to another robo combination to add "Drill" suffix to the name, or with the Carnoryūtus's tail, the "Twin Drill" suffix. He ends his sentences with the word "Tera".
- Burstosaur Triceratops (爆竜トリケラトプス Bakuryū Torikeratopusu?): Nicknamed "Kera" (ケラ Kera?), the armored one of the three Burstosaurs, Kera can take a great deal of punishment from an opponent; he seems strong enough to topple every building in downtown Japan. Kera is actually the youngest of the three Burstosaurs, as his voice sounds like a Japanese pre-teen. In Episode 36, he wished to become human and suddenly became a little boy, the transformation later revealed to be caused by an angel much to God's dismay. He fell in love with a woman, but sacrificed his human life to turn back into his normal form in order to protect Yukito. In the finale, Kera said to thank Yukito for everything. Forms AbarenOh's right arm and shield and the handle of the Double-Tail Sword. Becomes a swap-in arm of another robo combination to add the "Triceratops" suffix to the robo (this is never seen in the footage). He ends his sentences with the word "Kera".
- Burstosaur Pteranodon (爆竜プテラノドン Bakuryū Puteranodon?): Nicknamed "Ptera" (プテラ Putera?), the fastest of the three Burstosaurs, she can reach speeds of Mach 1.2 and higher, with her wings, beak, and shockwaves effective on any enemy. A kind and sweet Burstosaur. In the finale, Ptera said to Ranru to find a nice boyfriend. Forms Abaren'oh's helmet and "gown", the last can be removed for the Ptera Cutter, a bladed boomerang used by AbarenOh. She ends her sentences with the word "Pura".
- KillerOh (キラー王 キラーオー Kirāō?, Killer King): When TopGaler and Stegoslidon combine, they form KillerOh. It has the Burstosaur Death Stinger finisher. Other attacks are the Fillet Striker, Death Combustion and Death Combustion Fire. KillerOh can adopt all of the arm power-ups from the other relevant Blasatasaur.
- Burstosaur TopGaler (爆竜トップゲイラー Bakuryū Topugeira?): A Tupuxuara who was sealed for destroying a major DinoEarth city. He was found and released by AbareKiller, whom he partnered with. He often employs his great speed in battle, which has been clocked at an astounding Mach 20. He calls Mikoto "human", as a sign of the no-affection relationship between both. His personality is a hardcore lone wolf like his master. He died along with AbareKiller near the finale, but returned in Dekaranger vs. Abaranger and combined with AbarenOh to become Killer AbarenOh. Form's KillerOh's limbs and weapon, or the wings of AbarenOh Galer or BakurenOh Galer and with Stegoslidon, also assumes the same wing position for Killer AbarenOh, Killer BakurenOh, or OhOhAbarenOh. TopGaler has the nickname Gela (ゲラ Gera?), in similar fashion to the nicknames of most other Burstosaurs, in Abaranger materials and books, though the nickname was never used on-screen. However, AbareKiller once did call him Top (Topu?).
- Burstosaur Stegoslidon (爆竜ステゴスライドン Bakuryū Sutegosuraidon?): A Stegosaurus nicknamed "Stego" (ステゴ Stego?), who could combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Slidon, serving as a surfboard. He can similarly attach to BakurenOh, and assumes the same position on Killer Abarenoh, Killer Bakurenoh, and OhOhAbarenOh. He and Top Galer combine into KillerOh, in which Stego forms the main body and head. He was taken by AbareKiller temporarily via mind control, but after awaking with his own willpower (separating KillerOh in the process), he left only to return to AbareKiller's side by his own will so he could fight at his full potential. Stego seemed to be the only one to really care about Mikoto's life, aside from Lije/Lijewel. His personality is almost similar to Ptera, but he can be a dunce like Dime from time to time. In the finale, Stego asked Yatsudenwani why he was still on Earth.
- MaxRyūOh (マックスリューオー Makkusuryūō?, Max Saur King): When MaxOhja combines with Baki, Dime, Paras, Kylo and the Gold Trio with the command of "Super Burstosaur Fusion" (爆竜超合体 Bakuryū Chō Gattai?), they form MaxRyūOh. One of the most powerful combinations of the Burstosaur. Their major attack is Burstosaur Dragon King Buster, which involves the left arm causes an enormous tornado and the bazooka of the right arm discharges the energy shell. Another attack is Dragon King Javelin.
- Legendary Burstosaur Styracosaurus (爆竜スティラコサウルス Densetsu no Bakuryū Sutirakosaurusu?) & DinoCarry / MaxOhja (マックスオージャ Makkusu Ōja?, Max Monarch): The Dino GUTS of AbareMax awoke "Styraco" ("Sutirako"?) and the DinoCarry, which holds the Axe RhamphoGold (斧ランフォゴルド Fu Ranfogorudo?) axes & Helmet SpinoGold (兜スパイノゴルド Kabuto Supainogorudo?) helmet. Attack is Fireball Crash. Styraco can combine with the DinoCarry to form a humanoid fighting robot - MaxOhja. Two of its attacks are Max Crusher and Max Thunder Spark, while its finisher is the Burstosaur Max Shoulder Attack. Stryacosaurus's head becomes the chest of MaxOhja or MaxRyūOh, the tail forms either MaxOhJa's head or MaxRyuuOh's back. The rest of Styraco forms the body and upper legs in both combinations with the DinoGarry as the lower legs (the wheels serve as MaxOhja's arms), the spike on the right wheel becomes the right "glove", and the left spike become the left "glove". Sometimes, AbareBlack will pilot MaxOhja, along with piloting MaxRyūOh, whenever AbareMax can't do it. The two RhamphoGold become axes for MaxOhja, the hip armor or hand axes of AbarenOh Gold or OhOhAbarenOh, or combine with the left "glove" spinning weapon of MaxRyuuOh. SpinoGold becomes the head for MaxRyūOh, AbarenOh Gold, or Oo-AbarenOh.
- Burstosaur Bakyceloknuckles (爆竜バキケロナグルス Bakuryū Bakikeronagurusu?): A Pachycephalosaurus nicknamed "Baki" (バキ Baki?), he was the first of the Burstosaur eggs found. Once hatched, he remained at DinoHouse until he grew large enough to be placed in Brachio with the others. His personality is quite kiddish similar to Kera. In battle, he can replace Kera on AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Nagurus, with a boxing arm. He can also form the "Nagurus" power up arm on BakurenOh or KillerOh, and he forms MaxRyūOh's right arm. In the finale, Baki said to Mai that he's happy that she's so close with her dad (Ryouga), and to be good to him. The explanation of Bakycelonagurus's name is very complex. Baki-baki is said to be the sound of many swift jabbing punches in Japanese manga. Naguru is a Japanese word for a punch, as thrown in a boxing match. These two words are spliced into the term Pachycelphalosaurus thus: Baki-ycephalo-naguru-us. Because the "saurus" splice onto the end of the word naguru sounds somewhat similar to the English word "knuckles", many mistakenly believe the Bakuryū's name to be BakyceloKnuckles. However, the Japanese phonetics for knuckles are nakkurusu (ナックルス), not nagurusu (ナグルス). He ends his sentences with the word "Baki".
- Burstosaur Dimenokodon (爆竜ディメノコドン Bakuryū Dimenokodon?): A laidback Dimetrodon nicknamed "Dime" (デメ Deme?), found in Kyoto's Kansai district. He can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Nokodon, with a buzzsaw arm. He can also similarly attach to BakurenOh or KillerOh, and he becomes the interior of MaxRyuuOh's right leg. He tends to be dopey now and then. He loves the music of Asuka's Dino Harmonica. In the finale, Dime said to Sugishita to take care and to always be healthy. Noko is a Japanese word for saw.
- Burstosaur Parasaurokkiru (爆竜パラサロッキル Bakuryū Parasarokkiru?): A Parasaurolophus nicknamed Paras (パラス Parasu?) with a Spanish accent who can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Rokkiru, with a scissors arm. He can similarly attach to BakurenOh or KillerOh, and he can form the interior of MaxRyuuOh's left leg. He was living in the Juan Fernández Islands, where he end up learning to speak Spanish, until he sniffed Asuka's scent and arrived in Japan. In addition, he's an avid piano player. Some fans see him as the most "annoying" of the Burstosaur. In the finale, he said to Emiri to not lose her cheerfulness.
- Burstosaur Ankyloveilus (爆竜アンキロベイルス Bakuryū Ankirobeirusu?): A petulant Ankylosaurus nicknamed "Ankylo" (アンキロ Ankiro?), who can replace Kera on AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Veilus, forming a shield and drill blade arm. She can similarly attach to BakurenOh or KillerOh, and forms Maxryuuoh's left arm. She often admits her lack of trust in the Abarangers, though still comes out to help when needed. It's interesting to note, that when she first contacted the Abarangers, she started them on a wild goose chase saying she was in the city, beach and farm. She was only found by accident and preferred to live a quiet life, until Asuka convinced her otherwise. In the finale, Kylo noted that Yatsudenwani was an interesting fellow.
- Burstosaur Firenokodon (爆竜ファイヤーノコドン Bakuryū Faiyānokodon?): A special episode CD-Exclusive dimetrodon that hatched at Hawaii. It can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Nokodon Fire, forming a buzzsaw arm. It could similarly attach to the other robo combination. Firenokodon never appeared in the show.
