The 25 Days of Christmas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 25 Days of Christmas (also known as ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas, previously known as Fox Family's 25 Days of Christmas) is an annual programming block that has been shown on ABC Family and its predecessor Fox Family since 1996. As the title implies, the special is shown every year from December 1st to December 25th, showing classic holiday programming (such as Rankin/Bass' classic TV specials), as well as new television movies each year. However, in 2006, the channel opted to show less seasonal films, such as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, as well as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The channel is expected to do that in 2007 as well, with the basic cable premiere of The Incredibles.

[edit] Countdown to The 25 Days of Christmas

In 2007, due to the heavily popular ratings from the previous year, ABC Family is launching a countdown to the programming block, which, according to ABC Family's official schedule, will begin November 21st.

Although this is the first official early start [2], in recent years holiday programming has begun during the last week of November, showing mostly older original films. [3] This year for the first time ABC family is airing The Santa Clause 2 and the Incredibles. The special pullout in the Nov. 19-Dec. 2 issue of TV Guide states that Jingle All The Way will also air.
