Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Manhattan Missions was a 1991 PC game featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The goal was to complete a number of side-scrolling levels culminating in a final battle with the Shredder. In between missions the Turtles could rest, regaining lost hit points, but the player only had a limited amount of time in which to find the Shredder. The game was designed to be played with a keyboard, using a mode key to switch between walking and fighting modes. Each turtle wielded his signature weapon and a number of shuriken. Nowadays, this game is considered rare & collector's item due to how very little is known about it, and Konami have no information about it either. However, the game can be found at many Abandonware websites.

[edit] Gameplay
The gameplay was loosely similar to Prince of Persia but each Turtle had the ability to arm/withdraw their weapon for battle. holding the enter key made the Turtles attack & spacebar to block enemy attacks & bullets (depends on which dierection of the arrow keys.
[edit] Relations with the comic/1987 series/films
Unlike the other games which were based on the 1987 TV series, this had more references to the Mirage comics & films. the opening story is loosely based on the story of issue #1. The game included mature themes (though no blood) the Purple Dragons, Triceratons, and the Mafia. the only relation to the 1987 series was Bebop and Rocksteady included as bosses and the Caucasian Baxter Stockman. Relations to the films included Shredder's red outfit, Tatsu making an appearance, and similar themes.
[edit] Enemies
The enemies were both from the Mirage comics and 1987 TV series (which was popular at the time). Another note is that Tatsu from the first/second films was a boss, as well as several original enemies.
[edit] Foot Clan
The Foot Clan fight with any traditional Japanese weapon and are the most encountered in missions. Interestingly, they are designed after their incarnations in the original comics.
[edit] Purple Dragons
The Purple Dragons were enemies on any side with notable ones include punks and thugs. They attacked with knives and baseball bats.
[edit] Mafia
Also included are the Mafia who include gangsters with machine guns. One member has taken control of robots (spider-like droids and large black tank-bots), and the Mafia boss hides in his office using a dart-gun as his weapon.
[edit] Triceratons
This game marks the first video game appearance of the Triceratons. Mostly unarmed soldiers are fought, but later missions include riflemen and soldiers in armoured rocket suits. They are fought in their own mission.
[edit] Cat/Mouse Gangsters
One of the original enemies in the game, they are a crime gang of mutant cats and mice led by a mouse crime boss. The taller cats use claws while the smaller ones use clubs. They are co-led by a bobcat with a chain around his arm. The mice prefer to use guns and their leader is much stronger. He is battled twice during their story.
[edit] Mousers
Mousers are encountered in the sewer which leads to Baxter Stockman's hidden lab who has mind-controlled Leatherhead (who fights with a large plank). Although the game was based more on the comics, Baxter was caucasian like how he was in the 1987 cartoon.
[edit] Bebop & Rocksteady
The only characters from the 1987 series. Bebop helps the Mafia in the first mission, while Rocksteady is battled later. Bebop uses punching as his attack, while Rocksteady uses his machine gun. Their appearances were closely based on the toy incarnations to give them a more comic-type look to go with the game's mature theme.
[edit] Tatsu
Shredder's right-hand man, who is first battled in Asiatown. After he is defeated, he teleports back to the Foot Tower, where he is later fought there using sai to rival Raphael. His lackeys include a blackbelt ninja to rival Donatello, a female ninja to rival Michelangelo, and a samurai to rival Leonardo.
[edit] The Shredder
The Shredder is the final boss fought after Tatsu and his crew. He mostly uses kicks, punches, a the gauntlets on his arms. After the Turtles defeat Shredder, they take him to a police officer, then later celebrate on the roof at April's apartment. His outfit is based on the movies rather than the cartoon/comics.
