To-do list for Theodore Roethke:

Which did he have- depression, or manic depression?

I haven't yet encountered mention of Roethke exhibiting manic behaviors. Many people with recurrent episodes of major depression may best be diagnosed and treated as having bipolar disorder. However for the Roethke article, it would be best not to use the deprecated term "manic-depression" nor to give a medical diagnosis, but instead to write of nonspecific bouts of depression. This latter term, in lay use, covers a host of meanings. I'm modifying the article's text accordingly. Myron 16:53, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ogalala / Indian

good day. i'm reading a book by larry woiwode in which the works of mr roethke are discussed. one poem supposedly cited from roethke's works contains the words "i shall become an indian" or "i shall become an iroquois" or something to that effect. the book's author, mr. woiwode, also alludes to the poem having at one time---either by roethke's hand or by someone else and posthumously---contained the addendum "ogalala." ex: "i shall become an indian/iroquois. ogalala?" is the suggestion of this addendum purely part of woiwode's imagination as a novelist, or does the word 'ogalala' actually appear in any of roethke's works? if it does appear, what is its meaning? thank you in advance. 138.88.206.5 16:22, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

Someone seems to have vandalized the history section. Funny as it is, it needs to be cleaned up, and I don't personally know enough about Roethke to clean it up properly and sort fact from ridiculousness. Cwilli201 21:31, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
