Can one summarize the Saul Kripke thing in this manner:

When you use a term, there sometimes a difference between what you think it refers to or want it to refer to ("speaker meaning"), on one hand, and what it "actually" refer to ("semantic meaning") on the other. Confusion arises because your term does not have the extension you think it does.

I feel this might be missing something. Maybe intension has something to do with it. --Ryguasu

You have moved my little piece of comments that could have been elaborated, too hastily to metawiki, without giving a notice or a reason. Also, you did not consider to use my comments on the article of meaning, so i would not bother to sort out the problem at least you are getting to realize in conection with one of the basic terms, a corner stone of any encyclopedia or lexicon. I have dropped a few hints that recursion should be a useful term to to use here, but without dialogue proper, i do not feel inclined to be bothered. Rots of rock, Apogr 16:01, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
