Talk:The Wreck of the Hesperus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This poem is less than 100 lines long, and so hardly qualifies as an epic. Narrative yes, potentially a ballad, but not an epic.
What was that about South Africa? Does he mean the music to which the poem is usually set for singing? --Bluejay Young 23:54, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
"The great Blizzard of 1839, which destroyed a number of ships along the northeast coast, was his inspiration" Have you a citation for this? And, are we getting the Blizzard of 1839 (over 1000 ships, 40,000 lives lost) confused with the Blizzard of 1888 (200 ships, hundreds of lives)? - QatBurglar (talk) 15:44, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Upon further inspection, this is fairly well-documented. I will add some supporting documentation in the next while. - QatBurglar (talk) 15:46, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
