[edit] Killing Redirect

I'm Knocking this back to before someone's rude redirect *troll* (No offense of course). It's like saying Star Trek: TNG is Star Trek. Cast and all.

What was rude about it? I gave a good reason. Star Trek: TNG is very notable, The Wotch: Cheer! is very non notable. And insulting someone is not done here, and saying "no offense" immediately is not an excuse. Please stay WP:CIVIL in the future. Do you have any arguments per WP:NOTE or WP:WEB why The Wotch:Cheer! should have its own article? If not, then it should either be deleted or redirected, and I chose redirecting because that is the more gentle solution. If you prefer that I take it to WP:AfD instead to have a thorough discussion, be my guest! Fram 09:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
The trouble with just redirecting, though, is that the page for the main comic has very little information about the spinoff. I suspect that's what Vikedal actually meant with the Star Trek analogy - even if TNG wasn't notable, the page for the original series wouldn't necessarily have any relevant information about it, so redirecting there wouldn't do any good. • I'm not going to comment on the WP issue that you brought up Fram, however, I will mention that there was a discussion about merging the two articles in December of 2005 on The Wotch's Disscussion page, and the decision was made to not merge them. Also, I do believe that there is a tag to use if you want to redirect something to another page, and get disscussion on it, I'm not entirely certain, because I'm relatively new at this... Just my thoughts Theturtlehermit 23:58, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
      • I hadn't seen that discussion, but since it was a long time ago and between only two editors, it seems hardly relevant. As for the tags: yes, there are all kind of tags for merging things, but there was nothing left to merge, since all necessary info is already in the The Wotch article. The same goes for The Wotch: My Sister, Myself, by the way, which also has no reliable sources indicating its notability sufficient to have its own article. For both, the main argument is that notability is not hereditary: the notability of The Wotch (as far as it goes) does not mean that any spin-offs (authorized or not) are notable. Again, ST:TNG does not have an article because Star Trek is notable, but because ST:TNG is notable on its own. But as it seems that some people object to the redirect (which you have every right to do of course), I'll just but them both up for AfD, and we'll let the community decide if these articles need to exist or not.
