Talk:The Wallace and Ladmo Show
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My dear Aecis, please understand that the decades portion of this article is written in such a voice to emulate Wallace, the host of the show. I do not expect you or anyone else that did not grow up in Phoenix, Arizona to understand anything written in this article. The Wallace and Ladmo show is a bit of a puzzle in it self. I would never post such vile as you did on an article regarding a Dutch children's television show. Please respect our fan club's article. Thank you Laptopbomber
- A Wikipedia article about The Wallace and Ladmo Show should not try to emulate Wallace, it should try to write about the show in a neutral way, not taking either side on the subject. It shouldn't unduly praise the show and it shouldn't unduly criticize it. The content as it is is not encyclopedic in its tone, and should therefore be edited and improved. And please, keep the strawmen off the page. Aecis Mr. Mojo risin' 12:49, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
strawmen? What are you talking about? Also, if you think that you can improve it, please do so. Don't just post your vile and leave.
- I know I can't improve this article, because I don't know the show. All I know is that what you added is not encyclopedic and should therefore be edited and improved. And what is vile about asking for wikification? Aecis Mr. Mojo risin' 12:59, 22 January 2006 (UTC) (PS. Could you please sign your comments using four ~'s?)
[edit] Copyvio
The page appears to have taken most of it's content from [1], so I've marked the page as a copyvio.
I'll try to salvage the stuff that was on the page prior to the copyvio material being introduced and put that on the temp page.

- Which I've done now. -- Kaszeta 13:11, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
This material was posted on Wikipedia by the same individual that wrote the material in the first place. Why are you people harrassing us?
- Nobody's harassing you. If you are the owner of the page from which the material was lifted from (or know them), then consult Wikipedia:Copyright problems. We need to make sure that contributions to this encyclopedia are properly licensed. Per that page:
- Make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL at the site of the original publication.
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions at wikimedia dot org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation.
- Until then, feel free to edit the temp page. -- Kaszeta 13:11, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Now I can't do anything with it, because someone removed the whole thing claiming there to be a copy violation. If it's not put back up in due haste, I will do some serious complaining. Nothing personal. I am not the original poster. You have no idea how many people that are going to be angry about this.
- Go ahead and complain if you feel the need to. Just know that threatening to complain won't impress anyone in here. Copyright violations are some of the most serious infringements on wikipedia, so they should be taken very seriously. Aecis Mr. Mojo risin' 13:06, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Get your act together! I said that I was not the original poster. The person that posted this article is the same person that wrote it from scratch in the first place.Laptopbomber 13:09, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- How do you know that? And, if you do know that, you can have the appropriate person give us permission to use the material as per Wikipedia:Copyright problems -- Kaszeta 13:13, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
I plan to ask the Desert Rat to do just that. Also, I plan to do some other things as well.Laptopbomber 13:22, 22 January 2006 (UTC) What minute. Please at least be so kind enought to just post the email addy. Not everyone feels like clicking around.Laptopbomber 13:25, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- It's not my place to go posting the original author's email on Wikipedia, even if I could find easily find it. And, for the reasons mentioned by User:Aecis, I'm not sure the material is appropriate for this article anyway (heck, it's not referenced, for example). But there's enough material there to probably start putting something encyclopedic together.
- Please, don't get me wrong. As a recipient of an actual Ladmo bag in my own youth, I think this page should be here, but we need to follow the right procedures-- Kaszeta 13:32, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
I do not expect you to post the Desert Rat's email addy, although, you could have avoided all of this if you contacted him. I would like for you to please post the Wikiadmins email addy, so that The Desert Rat can easily get this matter behind us.Laptopbomber 13:42, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- Basic reading comprehension: I already posted the address (above). -- Kaszeta 16:03, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh...I get your undertone! You think that you can bully me around.69.137.201.70 16:47, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- Relax. You asked for information we already gave you. We give you references for why Wikipedia does things the way it does, and you claim harassment. It's nothing of the sort; we want good pages as much as you do. If you think I'm bullying you, my apologies. But we do have a way things are done here, and we'll all get along better if we try and work within those policies. -- Kaszeta 01:13, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

- I feel I should add in here an email Helpdesk received:
- "Dear Friends, I have just recently learned, and now see that there's a possible Copyright alledged problem on the info. submitted to you about:The Wallace & Ladmo Show. I "Rob Cook"(aka. Desert Rat, wrote the article, and story called~ "The 36 Years Of Laughter" a mini-history of the show. There's a person by the name of Chris Williams, who likes to make trouble...and ruin things for the real fans of this longest running kid show. He might be the culprit here. I give "Wikipedia" 110% authority/permission in using my story,in any shape or form. I help run the the "Wallace,Ladmo & Gerald Fansite" on the internet...my W&L History appears there,as well as on my personal webpage: http://www.geocities.com/watchking/wallacehistory.html So if this W&L History of mine was the info. cited as the "Copyright" violation by this person(s)...he/they were lieing. Again you may reinstate the Wikipedia info as was...or in any fashion so desired. Thank You, Robert E. Cook Wallace,Ladmo & Gerald Fansite"

Can we all please be creative from now on. Instead of deleting things like a bafoon why not take the few minutes and make the wakirepair. Some of you people are the reason why Wikipedia will never be respected. I know that you pride yourselves on how many deletions you can make in a day, but please treat this article with respect.
This web site has it all wrong regarding the Ladmo Bags. It was many years after Ladmo joined the show that the Ladmo Bags were introduced. Actually, there was a daily post card drawing for years before. The winner was invited to appear on the show and pick out a toy from the shelf. I'd change the page myself, but there are wakigods that lurk in these pages who would simply revert the page even though they have no knowledge of the show. They have no interest in getting it right for history sake. They just want to be a bully. To prove my point: Rob Cook gave them permission to post excerpts from his personal web page. For some reason, the wakigod that took down the page has not yet reverted it back. To set the record straight, Wikipedia should not be used by historians, past present and future, to research the Wallace & Ladmo Show.Laptopbomber 17:18, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Pat McMahon
Pat McMahon's name links to the baseball coach of the Florida Gators. It needs to be disambiguated and fixed. Perhaps an entry for Phoenix's Pat McMahon, the broadcaster and former member of The Wallace and Ladmo Show, should be put together and explicitly linked. That is, if everyone can stop fighting long enough. Cernansky 22:38, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ladmobag.jpg
Image:Ladmobag.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
