Did they ever reveal the truth?

No. That is one of the many aspects that where realistic. The Jury never found out if they where right.

The case was deliberately constructed to be ambiguous, so the chances are that there was never any particular "truth" written into the story in the first place. --80.2.205.178 10:26, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
In the first episode it is stated that "The actors had been involved in an improvisation" that was the basis for the case.
