The Spanner case (like so many attempts to demonize gay sex) backfired and actually helped jumpstart international BDSM networking. Benjiboi 12:08, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I've tagged article for expanding. This was a major and pivotal case for community organizing and empowerment of LGBT and kink communities. In the most outlandish case, gay couples engaging in consensual BDSM behavior were arrested with the top being prosecuted for aggravated assault and the bottom for being an accomplice to their own assault. careers (and lives) were ruined with several of the defendants committing suicide. This case was part of a groundswell to recruit LGBT law enforcement and sensitivity trainings. Benjiboi 19:23, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
It would be great to have any sources on that aspect.--Nemissimo 12:38, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
