nearly a "B" pics, some more topics and pics. Most important is that your reffing style is good. However they should be 3rd party (some of yours are) and you need to ref nearly everything. Have a polish of what you have and then return to the assessment schools page or me to see if this important school can be a GA Victuallers 18:52, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Logo

The school has recently updated their logo (August 2006). It needs to be updated on this page. casiohyp 04:50, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Have they? How has it changed? SM247My Talk 00:14, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

The emblem has been re-coloured. casiohyp 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Currently it has not been updated on the main page but a low res version is on the daily notices. Casiohyp

[edit] Spurious Comments

This message is in response to a personal attack posted: 11:51, 3 May 2006 (UTC) by WikiUser:SM247

Excuse me, Spurious comments? Are you even affiliated with The Southport School idiot? It is important to be balanced and if you knew anything about TSS or the Gold Coast, you'd know that those comments are far from spurious, based from FACT quoted by TSS teachers and students, (Do you even know what VET is? No. Probably not) and represent a side uncommunicated to the stupid propaganda page for TSS. I don't know who the hell you are but you have nothing to do with common interpretations of TSS and even if you do, you'd be smart enough to recognise the validity of the 'SPURIOUS remarks'. Personal grievances, my ass. Go spend more time milling over a dictionary, mole.

[edit] Douglas Irving

I removed this entry as I couldn't find mention of him in relation to Australian politics and he was put in by a user who added another dubious entry. Can anybody verify? Cheers TigerShark 10:24, 14 May 2005 (UTC)

This page is often edited by students from the school who make rude references to fellow current pupils. I suspect he is a current student (I don't know everybody at the School but his name rings a bell).

Irving was a former chair of the school council, not sure of his political background but i doubt it exists.

[edit] Football/soccer

The match is gazetted as a soccer fixture on the BBC website. "Football" has several meanings in Australia - soccer, or association football, is its least important. Leave it as is!

It is up to TSS. According to BBC and their website, "Soccer" was changed to "Football" in 2005 in lieu of the governing body of Soccer in Australia become the FFA, the Football Federation of Australia early that year.

[edit] OSA Overload

The OSA should have its own page with all the Hidden Creek advertising there, if it must be anywhere.

Yes I agree that there tends to be a certain focus on the OSA rather than the School itself. The OSA should start another page.

[edit] TSS Logo

Hi have toyed with the logo on the banner of the TSS main homepage, however my editing tools are not the best. If someone has a clear, TSS logo, upload it and attach it to the article. DB 04:50, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Poor editing

Please only post matters which are verifiable, encyclopaedic and relevant, per the usual Wikipedia protocols. This page is descending into a forum for people with a grudge against the School to publish unfounded and unsupported speculation and opinions. I make reference in particular to the fellow who initiated the reply at the head of this page. SM247 02:25, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

This trend has been continuing. I have requested for an admin to lock this page against ridiculous vandalism such as the tinkering with the section on cadets, notable Old Boys and the like. For the record, Courtney Atkinson is an old boy of the School and is not female. The heading 'poor academic performance' is clearly somebody's POV, without specifying why absence from the State's top 100 is a poor performance given the cost of fees. Jammo (SM247) 04:45, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

OH shut up! I am so sick of your bickering SM247. Blah, blah, blah. The Southport School is great. I love The Southport School. I think there are your opinions (which seem to dominate the TSS Wikipedia page) and then there are those who appose it. Let something THAT DOESN'T represent your 'views' be present. Wikipedia is not an advertising pamphelt for The Southport School. It is an encyclopedia, representing GOOD and BAD points of The School.

As far as 'ridiculous vandalism' is concerned, I support you. SevenUP32 12:13, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

I have indicated several times that I am not adverse to a well written criticism of the School. The present ones are inherently POV as they are not written neutrally. If this probem is corrected I will have no difficulties. The heading is not necessarily related to the single sentence provided. I am not trying to advertise the School, it does that for itself. Realistically though, the POV element is the least of my concerns given the recent spate of silly crap written as a series of poor jokes.
I note with interest that most of the people who take umbrage with my comments are users or IPs who have only contributed to this page or Greg Wain and the associated discussion and AfD pages, and not to the wider Wikipedia. Jammo (SM247) 00:00, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps the present form of the page is satisfactory - it rationalises the structure of the article by combining the two academic paragraphs andthus the opposing views. This is what I mean by neutrality. Jammo (SM247) 02:25, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Image

Found a higher definition, good quality image to use in place of the other one. Enjoy! --Dark Phoenic 09:49, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
