[edit] Regarding cite box

It seems to be an issue with Internet Explorer. My recommendation is to use Mozilla as the box is properly formatted with that browser.--Crossmr 16:00, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

This page needs to be deleted. It is too speculative, and Wikipedia is Not a Crystal Ball. --Moped 01:38, 5 August 2006 (UTC) I request that someone delete it.

1 - learn how to list an article for AfD before doing so. All you've done now is make a mess. 2 - The product has been confirmed and all the information on the product is cited from a reliable source.--Crossmr 01:43, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Everything on the paged is sourced, even the source isn't listed. Jaxad0127 02:17, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
"Everything on the paged is sourced, even the source isn't listed. Jaxad0127 02:17, 5 August 2006 (UTC)" Jaxad0127, what you said contradicts itself. --Moped 06:58, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Thats a moot point now that it has been reorganized with the reference. Jaxad0127 18:13, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
and you still haven't explained what is unsourced on the article.--Crossmr 15:15, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes but the template was there, so we have to go through it.--Crossmr 02:19, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Why should it be deleted? Its an actual game, thats coming out, its an article on something real. We have articles for Nightlife and University, why not the Pets expansion. The most waited out expansion in the Sims.Koolgiy 07:17, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

This game is apparently coming out... i dont see the reason for deleting and re-writing it all over again —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.197.189.203 (talk • contribs) 07:44, 5 August 2006

The official sims 2 website even devoted an entire section to sims 2 pets with screens and videos and all. At this point, its safe to say this is definitely NOT speculative. sims 2 pets is under production —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.197.189.203 (talk • contribs) 07:53, 5 August 2006

The Sims 2 website has a thing on it. Gamespot has a thing on it. EAs website has a thing on it. The Sims 2 site has a friggin flash animation on the front page for it for cripes sake! Why delete it! Its a good and real article. By the way, who put on the deletion thing anyway? The guy User:Moped doesn't seem to be an admin. If he is he doesn't have the userbox saying he is. --Koolgiy 16:52, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

You don't have to be an admin to nominate an article for deletion.--Crossmr 17:51, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Moped, I'm wondering why you removed most of the features list. All of it is sourced and theres no reason to remove it. Jaxad0127 22:10, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

I demand that someone un-delete the SimCity 5 article. NOW. --Moped 16:39, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

"Moped", I suggest you learn to calm down, learn how to edit, learn some common sense, and best of all, some etiquette. Daniel (talk)
And he looks like a fool now. Daniel (talk)

He was just being a spoiled brat about his pet article being deleted. Forget about it. Umlautbob 10:30, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Womrat?

It said that there will be womrats in the game. What's a womrat? Is it supposed to say Wombat? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cool-Fly (talkcontribs) 13:46, 7 August 2006

Its some kind of guinea pig/something else rodent. I believe its described in the chat.--Crossmr 17:52, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Isn't that actually a guinea pig? Womrats weren't in the original Sims, just guinea pigs and the Unleashed animals. Or maybe it's that little thing that came out of the pot? --Alexie 16:54, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

I googled it and its a "wombat crossed with a rat". Jaxad0127 17:01, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Oh. --Alexie 20:00, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

which look surprisingly alot like a guinea pig

[edit] Werewolf

We need a better citation for this, preferably an officially hosted image. Imageshack in this case counts as a self-published source, and can't be used.--Crossmr 14:40, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. There is a lot of speculation about Werewolves being the 'next thing' for this expansion but there is no actual evidence of them as yet. Robovski 02:34, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
The producers at Maxis have confirmed the existence of werewolves in an official chatroom event which had occured soon after the game was announced by EA. Sillygostly 06:56, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Maxis only said "maybe" in that chat. The article references GameSpy for werewolves. Jaxad0127 16:15, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
This has yet to be confirmed, but there is a werewolf that features in one of the "Pets Played By" videos entitled "Fetching Lover". Daniel (talk)
I've seen wolves in the list of NPCs spawnable via the Tombstone of Life and Death, as well as something called "Leader of the Pack." Haven't gotten either to actually spawn as yet. Will report back if successful. Umlautbob 00:20, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
"Leader of the Pack" is probably like the Grand Vampires. Untill there is a verifiable reference to werewolves, it should stay out. Jaxad0127 04:30, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I dont know if this is a more variable source: http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/thesims2pets/show_msgs.html?topic_id=m-1-30890650
There still needs to be some much more proper research done into this. Daniel (talk) 13:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

I was successfully able to spawn a Leader of the Pack. It was a black wolfish dog named Killer with green, glowing eyes. Seems promising, but no cheats give away an ability to turn a Sim into a werewolf. I guess I'll have to befriend him the old-fashioned way. I'm also working on getting a screenshot of him. Buddy13 21:05, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Original research won't help the isuue. — Jaxad0127 01:29, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Extensive fiddling with boolprop produced nothing. So I googled it. http://thesims2.ea.com/community/chat_10_05_06_pc.php is a chat transcript dated October 5, 2006. The game was released October 18, 2006, meaning they could not have added or deleted features at this point. In chat, it is confirmed that werewolves can age, and that a Sim can be a vampire, werewolf, alien and zombie aimultaneous. I think we can therefore consider their existence in-game confirmed, although I've not yet seen one. Umlautbob 09:56, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

So add it to the article as a confirmed feature. — Jaxad0127 16:29, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Someone add this. I have confirmed this myself thrice, since I brought the expansion just today. One, it's mentioned loosly in the manual. Two, there's a section on werewolves in the in-game help system, and three my Sim just became one out of luck just five minutes ago (it's all random, and I was lucky here). Daniel (talk) 18:51, 20 October 2006 (UTC) It's already in there. "Sims that get bitten by wolves may become werewolves." Umlautbob 01:07, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

And another disadventage is the fur on yours sims face, shouldent that be listed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by SerpentsTail (talkcontribs)

I wouldn't exactly consider it a disadvantage. I haven't actually played the game yet, but unless you really care, it shouldn't be a problem. CatMan 23:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New painting option

I still think it needs work, and to avoid an edit war, I bringing it here. This is my current proposal for the wording:

  • Sims with high Creativity skill can now paint art based on the user's own image collection.

I tried to make it used the same tone, etc, of the othere entries (which it should), with input from other versions on the page. Please comment. — Jaxad0127 16:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Release date official confirmation?

Can anybody cite an official reference for the release date of this game? My Googling has resulted in about a dozen different sites that show a dozen different release dates. Can anybody officially confirm what date it actually was released? - Vaelor 05:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reformatted article...

Still could use a bit more work though. Anyone more knowledgable with this expansion pack might be better on helping improving the article. Abby724 05:23, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mac

I think that the category "Mac OS X games" should be removed until the actual release of the exp pak for the Mac. --ÆAUSSIEevilÆ 18:34, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

The Mac version was released 2006-11-07 and I've added the info to the page. Apologies to the editors for the many edits; I'm a newbie and a nitpicker to boot. --Cryptognome 01:32, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Warewolves and other odd sims

Can a Sim become a warewoolf if they are already a vampire, zombie or an alien half breed thing? For that matter can they become a combination of any of those things? -Dr.-B 07:01, 21 November 2006 (UTC) Yeah. None of those states conflict, so far as I know. Umlautbob 22:33, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox

Something needs to be done about the infobox. It looks oddly shapen or something. Does anyone know if its possible to change the width of it at all? i.e. force it to be slightly wider?--Crossmr 20:03, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] GBA/DS

How is it that it could be released for the GBA and DS when it's an expansion pack? 67.188.172.165 05:00, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Because EA released stand-alone versions for all consoles/hand-helds.--Crossmr 17:41, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nintendo DS version

[1] Would anyone be interested in helping find a good source to show that the Nintendo DS version is the most popular version in Europe, and that it's most popular on the DS in North America (I can't confirm that it's more popular than the PC version, but I have data that shows it sold best, but I can't release it). - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:49, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

The best (and likely only thing) you can do is show sales records. That doesn't necessarily indicate its the most widely played, just that a lot of people bought it (who could potentially not like it which doesn't make it popular)--Crossmr 14:54, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
For it to exceed sales of the PC version is a pretty noticeable thing; even if it's not as good, for the best-selling version to be not-a-PC version is definitely abnormal. In all likelihood, the DS version sold because of the immense popularity of Nintendogs, which has a 50% attach rate on the DS (5 million copies to the DS' ten million sold), so I doubt that people bought it looking for a good Sims game, you know? - A Link to the Past (talk) 20:17, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Which is opinion. Regardless of what we think we need verifiable and reliable sources to making claims in the article.--Crossmr 00:40, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
And "who could potentially not like it which doesn't make it popular" isn't? I never said "put in this statement about the DS version", I said I wanted to look up information that may point to the idea that the DS version is more popular. - A Link to the Past (talk) 03:01, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
As I said, to make a claim of popularity you need something to back that up. Pure sales figures can be used to say that it sold well or sold better than TS2: Pets, but to make a claim as to whether or not its more popular you're going to need additional data. As far as looking it up, I'd say if that kind of data was available you would find it on a site like Gamespot.--Crossmr 23:29, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, and that's why I'm LOOKING up data to back me up. - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:18, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Upon further investigation, this article barely even acknowledges the existence of console or hanheld versions besides the infobox and category; Hell, outside of categories and the infobox, their existence is treated as trivial information. - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I would be MUCH in favor of creating a separate article for console releases, as in The Sims 2 (console), or The Sims 2: Pets (console). I don't care about length at the moment, but I'm ripping my hair out with all the unnecessary speculation in the original article. ALTON .ıl 06:11, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] PS2 Werewolves?

Just out of curiosity, are there werewolves in the PS2 version of this game? I'm pretty sure there are strays... 66.222.181.28 07:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC) No there are no ps2 werewolves -Darkside2000

[edit] Technical difficulties

Users experienced a lot of problems with this expansion: installation often caused the game to stop recognizing other EPs, and even the patch created new problems. Is this relevant to the article?

--63.192.124.46 23:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)anonymous user

Not unless it can be shown to be notable within the context of the product and the information can be taken from a reliable source. Forums and fan sites aren't reliable sources. See WP:ATT.--Crossmr 16:26, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

I may be the only person not to have a problem with any of The Sims 2 expansion packs. I have done everything that can be done without ANY problems. Why is this? - Darkside2000

Why does it matter? You're lucky, but the answer isn't relevant to the discussion, or, for that matter, the entire article at all. CatMan 23:43, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sims2ppcpftukeng jpg jpgcopy.jpg

Image:Sims2ppcpftukeng jpg jpgcopy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:21, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Normality

In the PS2 version of the game, is it still possible for Sims to age and die? It's just that I have been attempting to 'speed up' the process with fire (Don't judge me), and no Sims are killed by the flames. I have also tried to starve Sims, but they simply keep collapsing, and the Grim Reaper does not come. Also, can Sims have children in the PS2 version of the game? --Merco 17:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Both of those questions are no. Sims will only faint from fire, starvation, etc. and can be waken. I don't really think there has been a Sim game for the consoles that has the aging feature(if I'm wrong, correct me). Second, you can't have children. I can't tell anyone the many times I have tried this only to have it end in failure. Prepsear (talk) 22:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sourcing that it wasn't liked

What would be a good source? Is a Sims fan site good enough or what? Knowitall (talk) 21:02, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

No, fan sites are self-published and fail WP:V. To source this you'd need something from a reliable source, like a game review, or another article written on the expansion pack. Blogs, forums, fansites have only been considered reliable in the narrow circumstance that the subject of the article has written those items.--Crossmr (talk) 21:45, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] PC bias

Okay, I know, PC bias is to be expected in such an article, but I believe someone should seek information to expand the article to explain the gameplay, development, presentation, and reception of the console and handheld versions. - A Link to the Past (talk) 06:29, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
