[edit] Circulation
1.4 million per day? Doesn't that seem a little high?
- No, Sacramento is a good-sized city with many smaller cities around it. Plus it is the capital of the most populous state in the union.
- Yes, and the Sacramento Bee is also distributed through newspapers such as the Modesto Bee and Fresno Bee. Also, the Sacramento Bee serves as the largest newspaper for most of Northern California and directly delivers throughout the state. Mo 04:55, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- What do you mean by saying that the Sacramento Bee is distributed through the Modesto Bee and the Fresno Bee? Not true. These are separate newspapers, serving separate communities. The Fresno and Modesto newspapers are not branch versions of the Sacramento paper. Fresno and Modesto circulation figures are tallied separately. They cannot properly (as in ethically or honestly) be added to the total circulation of the Sacramento Bee and they are not included in any Sacramento Bee circulation count. These figures may be combined only if one is considering a total circulation of newspapers owned by the McClatchy Company, which also owns the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and the Raleigh News & Observer, among many other publications. Please see below.Daphodyl 02:18, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know how "circulation" is defined, but the New York Times claims to have a daily circulation of about 1.1 million. The Sacramento Bee history page says that the parent company has an average daily circulation of 1.4 million for its 11 newspapers combined.
[edit] Henry Bates
The State Treasurer impeached in 1857 was Henry Bates, not Ronald Button. Button held the office in *1957*. Looks like someone read the Bee had investigated the office holder of 1857 and looked up the name of the person at that time (well, 100 years later). It occurs to me that at no point would the name of A. Ronald Button appear in any context with this investigation or impeachment. Moral of the story: Don't do original research, especially if you can't do it right! Huangdi 05:52, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
