[edit] Date
Where does "the year 2080" come from? I couldn't find it in the story... RandomCritic 01:12, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
On further thought, 2080 seems quite incompatible with the overall timeline; Peri mentions how dangerous space travel was "25 or 30" years earlier (i.e., before her father's invention of the thermoid expansion chamber); and then indicates that that was 50 years after the colonization of Venus, so the total time elapsed between the date of the story and the colonization of Venus was 75 or 80 years. That would push the colonization of Venus back to 2000 or 2005; but other indications are that Venus wasn't colonized until after 2030.
The Red Peri is supposed to take place 50 years before a conjunction of Pluto and Saturn -- there's one in 2181, so perhaps the date should be around 2130? RandomCritic 02:18, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
The date is 2080 Because at one point keene makes reference to a discovery in physics "150 years ago, way back in 1930" on page 208 of Interplanetary odysseys. I'm going to change it back now, for the sake of accuracy.67.189.233.146 05:36, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
