Talk:The Red Decade
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] POV; Verification
At the time I type this, the article doesn't at all strike me as having a NPOV. Also, no references or sources are listed. It contains unverified allegations. There's nothing I've read in Eleanor Roosevelt's biographies about communism, certainly not in Wikipedia's. I've heard of the Red Scare, but not the "Red Decade". And why only Stalinism? Certainly, some Communists of the time may have believed in Trotskyism instead of Stalinism or Leninism. And was it truly as widespread as one editor describes it? And the idea that many multimillionares would be so attracted to a virulently anticapitalist ideology is nonsense. In my opinion, this article needs plenty of reediting. Any takers? - I am especially skeptical of the sentence "as well as the regular roster of liberals; educators, social workers, clergymen, racial spokesmen, novelists, Hollywood stars, script writes and directors, trade-union chiefs and not least multi-millionaires". It seems to me akin to a conspiracy theory. I mean, why did not America become the Soviet Socialist States of America if everybody was pro-Soviet? I looked for reviews on Amazon, but there is only one. I am placing a {{NPOV}} tag. --Orzetto 08:41, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

- I boldly edited this article and removed the NPOV tag. I removed the "as well as the regular roster of....." statement per your reasoning. I also removed the mention of Ayn Rand. It's not really notable to say that she would be against a pro-Soviet movement as she was an outspoken critic of the Soviet government to begin with. - Sperril 10:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks, it seems more NPOV now. --Orzetto 11:08, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
