Talk:The Priest and the Matador
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is a song by a notable band, and it is the next single to be released. I've looked at the criteria for speedy deletion, it doesn't meet them. There doesn't seem to be criteria for deletion for an article about a song, but generally, singles from notable bands seem to be OK subjects for articles. I admit, not all of them are that great (i.e. Shut Up! (Simple Plan song) And there isn't a WP:CRYSTAL problem, the video competition has been announced, meaning this is the next single. I don't see the problem.--Wehwalt 17:21, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- There are problems with WP:Crystal, but those are secondary to the primary issue that notability has not even been asserted in the article. I think you've been editing long enough that you should know that future song releases do not meet notability requirements. In this case, even if it did meet notability requirements, you haven't stated the reasons it's notable or provided references to back up that assertion. Hatch68 17:27, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- It is not a future song release, the song is out as part of the CD. I would assert that a single by a notable band is notable.--Wehwalt 22:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Too bad you didn't assert it in the article. It's hard to assert the notability of a future event, though. Hatch68 05:17, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Propose that tag be removed
As I read it, the speedy deletion tag was removed by an administrator. It was then reinserted by a non administrator. This strikes me as odd. I propose that it be removed again.--Wehwalt 12:19, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- I see it has been. My arguments stand for the notability and deletion debate. There is more or less a consensus that a CD by a notable group is notable. I would say the same thing goes for a single, and we don't have to wait until the date it becomes a single, we can anticipate without violating WP:CRYSTAL. --Wehwalt 14:39, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
