[edit] Problems with this article
This article suffers from two principal problems: WP:NPOV and WP:STYLE. As for the first, the problem is essentially that the article takes on the boos's POV. Thus, we read:
- 1 "Parents’ demands for achievement have crowded out children’s autonomic development."
- 2 "Many very successful people are perfectly miserable on the inside. "
- 3 "In terms of parenting, “do as I say not as I do” obviously does not work well."
These are opinions; perhaps sound, perhaps unsound, but opinions all the same. They must be cited as the author's e.g. 2 "The author argues that there is links between financial success and psychological well-being are tenuous, if they exist at all[citation needed]"
Which brings me to my second point -- style. This article is not witten in an encyclopedic style and has rather severe grammatical problems and other usage issues.
- "The kids that Dr. Levine meets in her practice..."
- "The author contrasts these kids [sic] external house (homes with everything you [sic] could materially want) with their deprived inner house (inner psychological resources, autonomy, independence, awareness, character)."
This article fails to meet the standards outlined in WP:STYLE.
There are many other examples that I could discuss, but there is no need to do so. I have tagged the article with {{NPOV}} and {{Style}}; please do not remove these tags without addressing these two systemic problems. --Zantastik talk 03:17, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
