Talk:The Party (demo party)

[edit] Rename

I know "(demo party)" sounds redundant, but it's consistent with other demo party articles, and in fact I've seen several red links going to the name suggested above. --Vossanova 23:11, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

This article has been renamed from The Party (demoscene) to The Party (demo party) as the result of a move request.
The old name had 2 backlinks, the new one had 4 backlinks despite having no article there, so it seems like a somewhat clear move. --Interiot 23:17, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Expansion

Allright, I wrote a little bit on history. But the article is still from a demoscener point of view. Could more be added on events, gaming, and organizing? Possibly by someone who was actually there? :) --Vossanova 17:46, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Decline of The Party

The decline of The Party followed a general nationwide decline, after a piracy bust at a smaller party called Connect 12 in 2001[1]. The raid was conducted by court officers on behalf of the Danish Anti-piracy group. This sparked a nationwide scare for party organizers, who worried about being held accountable, as well as party attendees. At the same time, home Internet connections became faster, and many people who attended the parties only for Internet usage stayed home instead.

I'm reluctant to include the last part, becaus this a more general party statement. But still, as The Party were the biggest party in denmark at the time, and generally set the standard, it makes more sense to include it in this article. I don't think we need a separate article about the danish party scene. Nichlas 13:11, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I made some fixes, but still have a question: when you write "the Danish Anti-piracy group", which anti-piracy group do you mean? Was that the name of the group? Also, be sure to add a link along with the reference. --Vossanova o< 18:44, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm reffering to "Antipiratgruppen", or APG. Their homepage is http://www.antipirat.dk/ The problem with the newspaper reference is that the article database isn't public. Nichlas 12:58, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
